:running::walking: - going to attempt the 41 steps from ground floor to top floor at least once this morning.

@tiredwife ~ Good Morning ( Dublin at 9:32 am). It must be about 3:30 am for you and staying the first post-op night with your husband.

:chillpill: Hope that you had a comfortable chair to rest & sleep in last night. When do you expect that you & hubby will be leaving the hospital ?

Looking forward to your updates, as they always provide inspiration & ideas that we can all benefit from.

Take care and my the new knee do as well as your 'old' new knee !

@marmora Good morning to you! It is 3:56 am. They have a couch that makes into a bed. Not exactly compy but it will do. Hubby will probably go home Saturday. You have a great day and enjoy being home.

Good Morning everyone. Hope everyone is having a good day. For me everything is still pretty uneventful. It has been 4 weeks yesterday for me and things are going quite well. I have been going to work half a day for the past week and this one. Hoping to go back full time next week. I do pretty good until I get tired, then I get kind of quezzy (sp) and have to go home. PT is going good. I always feel better after PT. I still swell but of course I will if I don't elevate and ice. Had a OS appointment Monday and he said I was his star patient. Takes me 2 hours to get there and I see him maybe 5 minutes. He looks at me and says see you in 2 weeks. All in all I can't complain still have some pain 1 or 2 but mostly just an ache most of the time, and sometimes I forget I had the surgery until I stand up to walk. It is still stiff. Haven't check ROM for awhile but the last time it was 119 and -1. I've been using the bicycle the last 3 times at PT. That really feels good. PT is twice a week for an hour. Better get back to work just wanted to check in.

You're doing really well. Sorry you have to be back at work already, but it sounds like you are taking care of yourself as best you can.

Excellent report!!! You're doin' great.

:sleep:Hi all hope everyone is having a great recovery. I am 5 weeks post op and now working all day. But I am really tired when I get home.

I have a question for you @Josephine. I was reading someone's thread and for the life of me I can't remember who's it was. Anyway you mentioned a Tylenol/Ibuprofen cocktail. What dosage of this do you recommend? I've been off all my medication now for about a week and am only taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the swelling and the fever in the knee. But am not sure how much to take and how often. I'm really not having any pain except the swelling and fever in the knee.

I don't like how the Percocet made me feel and it got to the point that I didn't feel like I needed anything quite that strong. What do you suggest? PT is going great. ROM is 124 and 0. I really like riding the bike, the full rotation really feels good. I'm finally back to doing quite a bit of the household chores and cooking. But taking it slow. So not everything gets done. I figure it can wait.:heehee:

Getting sleepy so guess I'll hit the sack. I still toss and turn trying to get comfortable. Everyone have a great recovery day tomorrow.

@jsm You are doing great! You are one of the blessed ones with an easier recovery! I am so very glad for you!

@jsm, you really are having a great recovery---count your blessings. Here's the link to the Tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail: Medications: Tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail

Keep up the good work, don't let yourself overdo, and keep us posted. We care.

Thanks @bottomshollow I guess I missed that article and I thought I read them all. Maybe just forgot.

@tiredwife Thank you for your thoughts and it sounds like your husband is finally coming around with his pain. If I remember from your past posts he had a pretty good recovery. I hope this one straightens out and his has a much easier time.

Got to go and get ready for work only today and tomorrow left for the week. Yeah!:happydance: PT on Friday and looking forward to it. I'll try to get to some of other threads soon.

Everyone have a great day.

@jsm As soon as his body absorbs the blood that pooled behind the knee cap he will be great. ROM on this one is a lot better than the first knee. Have fun at work! Don't over do it!

Well, it's been 7 weeks today for me. Doing really well I think. Went to the OS last Thursday and said I was doing great and doesn't want to see me for 7 weeks. Still enjoying my PT makes me feel good. Anyway I'm having swelling clear down in my ankle and foot. The OS said it's connected with the surgery because the circulations isn't right yet and fluid is settling in my foot. But he didn't tell me what I could do about it and I was wondering if water pills would help. Anyone know? Hope everyone had a good holiday. We camping and boating over the weekend. It was fun but I was really tired when we got home. We had 9 adults there and 15 kids. But they all had fun skiing and knee boarding. It looked like so much fun, so I'm hoping to try it next summer. Pretty much back to normal activities, but just taking it slow doing them.

Everyone have a good and successful day.

@jsm Hi Jackie, glad to see you back on here. The best thing for swelling is elevation, the higher the better (toes above nose) and gently running the fingers from the foot to the thigh to try to get the fluid moving out of your leg. It is still easy to overdo it, so slow and easy.

Good Afternoon everyone,
Today marks 8 weeks and 1 day. Finally the fluid I was retaining in my lower leg and foot has finally quit. Things are going pretty good. I had PT yesterday and now I'm going only once a week and she thought 2 more sessions and they would release me. Of course I still have stiffness if I don't keep moving. Rolling over in bed wakes me up still because it either hurts to straighten it, or if its straight it hurts to bend it. Not a lot of pain just annoying. At the end of the month I received an invitation from the hospital to come to a luncheon just for the coaches and joint replacement patients that had their surgery the same time I did. I think it will be quite interesting to see how everyone is progressing. We all felt the same on the 3 days we were at the hospital. :elevate: BAD!!

I hope everyone's recovery is going smooth today. Sometimes I actually forget about the knee and just walk.
Amazing.:wow: Everyone take care and feel good.

@jsm Jackie glad to hear you are doing so well! It would be an interesting luncheon. Hubby never met any of the people who had surgery the same day at our hospital. It isn't that big of a hospital so there was probably only a couple the same day. Haven't run into anyone at PT that had it the same day either.

@jsm, I'm thrilled you are doing so well! It really is amazing that, considering how traumatic the surgery is, you can already have moments that you forget all about it! That stiffness will be around for a bit, but will get better.

I am doing good. Thanks for asking. Helped hubby can 24 pints of picketed beets. Have already done I don't know how many pints of dill pickles, all out of our garden. Put up green beans, peppers, and zucchini for breads and cakes.

The swelling in my knee seems to be finally staying down for the most part. Still gets stiff, and I don't think it likes this cooler weather we're having right now.

Hope you and Steve ate doing good. Talk later. Got to eat some zucchini cake.

We didn't bother with a garden this year, all I have is a couple of green pepper plants and some herbs. Enjoy your zucchini cake! We are doing okay. Have a great day!

Hi everyone,
Today marks the 11th week. Feeling really good. Still stiff but I know that could last for a while. I had my last PT session yesterday. ROM was 128 without pushing and 135 pushing just before pain. And extension is 0. So I guess I'm on my own with PT, even though I haven't done much on my own. I've been walking to work which is only 5 blocks but that is 20 blocks counting walking home from lunch and back and then home after work.

We belong to a non profit group here in town and this past weekend my husband and I grilled 90 steaks for the
annual steak dinner. Not once did I hurt from arthritis pain. It was great! :yes!:

Well I'm at work so guess I better get back to it. Hope everyone has a great day!:thumb:
