THR Juanita's Hip Recovery

:hi:
Hope all is well as you start a New Year and a New Decade!

Good evening bone Smarties :loveshwr: well had the surgery yesterday and was home around 530 pm had so much medication that I was very out of it , didn't sleep good had to keep getting up to pee lol . Good thing was I got a nerve block and it didn't wear off until today so I was almost pain free yesterday:dancy: my husband is making sure I'm taking my pain meds as scheduled so I'm not chasing the pain , and I'm using the polar care cube for icing to keep down the swelling .
My surgeon talked to my husband after the procedure and told him the psoas tendon was actually over the cup (ouch) so he fixed everything tendon wise that he could , praying for a great outcome!!! Doing ok today just have a bad headache and very sore (pain in the groin) won't be able to see incisions until Friday when I'm cleared to remove the bandages , hope that they're ok , they've been stinging quite a bit:hissy: I've been following my post op instructions to the letter (resting and using my crutches for walking ) I don't want to screw this up lol . Funny thing is this is a harder recovery for me than my thr was go figure :wowspring:hoping to get a good night's sleep tonight :sleep: I just really want to thank all of you for your kind words and encouragement , this site has been amazing through my weird hip journey!!! I will be updating my progress and letting you know how it goes from here .

Hello and Happy Thursday!
I hope you slept well last night and woke without the headache.
Will look forward to following your journey and hoping you begin to notice results soon.
@Ryesgma

@Ryesgma just popping in to say so happy that surgery is done and you're home working on recovery. Hoping you can get some sleep as we know it's good for healing but grab wherever you can, whenever. Sending gentle healing hugs! :friends:

Good evening , still not sleeping well at night but I do find myself falling asleep alot during the day:sleeep: the headaches are starting to improve thank God!! My pain levels aren't bad either as long as I stay ahead of it . Can't wait to see if this procedure is the fix :elevate:

Fingers crossed this is the ticket!
It's good to hear the headaches are improving and that you're able to nap during the day to make up for the sleep you're not getting overnight.
Wishing you comfort and a good night's sleep :sleeep:
@Ryesgma

Quick update , I'm still not sleeping well I have noticed that I'm sweating a lot (weird) and today I've started having sharp pains shooting down my calf toward my foot . Not sure if this is normal ? I'm also starting to feel like I have to take a deep breath to catch my breath , not sure if I said that right . It's just a weird feeling . Still just going to try and ride this out and see what happens :elevate:

Good sleep is that one thing we all seemed to want so badly, it will come eventually. I want to say the sweating just kind of goes with all the other weird little recovery glitches, unless you're having a high fever, then reach out to your surgeon.

The shooting pains are probably the nerves and such just waking back up. Feeling like you have to take a deep breath to breathe? Again, you might want to check in with the surgeon's office to be on the safe side.

Hello Juanita,
You can sweat in the days after surgery as a side effect of anesthesia. The drugs in your system can raise your body temperature and your body cools itself through sweating. Wondering if you have a fever?

I'm unsure about the sharp shooting pains down your calf to your foot.

And as far as feeling as though your breathing is labored or irregular, I concur with Elf1 and think it's best you check in with the office of your OS this evening and run your symptoms by whoever is on call. Hopefully they can offer you the reassurance you're seeking. Since we're not medical professionals it's best you consult with your care team to be on the safe side.
Hoping your symptoms ease soon. Please stay in touch and let us know how you're doing.
@Ryesgma

Happy Sunday @Ryesgma / Juanita! Just wanted to check in with you today to see how you are. Hoping you've gotten your breathing issue addressed by the surgeon or his care team, that can be so many different things. Please let us know how you're doing when you get a chance.
:console2:

Good evening , I did get my breathing issues addressed and I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I was having panic attacks :gaah:i didn't think that with all I've been through the last two years that I would be so bothered by such a small procedure (compared to some of the other surgeries I've had) I'm still experiencing quite a bit of pain but I've been using my polar care cube and taking my prescribed meds . I'm not sure when exactly the surgical pain goes away from this procedure but I hope soon , I still feel the same way I did pre surgery:bignono: I'm really hoping it's just part of the healing process , I hope everyone else is doing good :console2:

In the space of a year and a half you have had three procedures in the same area trying to alleviate pain. Perfectly reasonable, IMHO, for you to be so worried. :console2: It can happen to the best of us.
I do hope with time, all will be well. :bath:

Please don't be embarrassed. Given the circumstances, I'm sure you're feeling overwhelmed. Maybe it's not just this procedure that made you feel so unsettled but a combination of all you've been through since the beginning of your hip journey. Multiple recoveries over the past year and a half would get to the most unflappable of us. Hopefully the continued icing and meds bring you speedy relief. Stay in touch.
A great week to you!
@Ryesgma

@Ryesgma so glad to hear from you, please don't be embarrassed. I had a strange feeling that you might be having a panic attack but didn't want to chance having you ignore the breathing issue. Hoping the elevating, ice and meds start kicking in and you start to get that pain under control. :console2:

@Ryesgma: Hi, Juanita. Just trying to catch up with everyone after the holidays. I’m praying this tenotomy will bring healing and a bright new year for you. Panic attack? Why not after all you’ve been through? My heart decided to get irritated 3 days after my release. Hadn’t had an issue for 20 years. After more anxiety inducing procedures to check out all the possibilities, all was perfectly fine and the symptoms just went away. I think my body was just sending signals that say: “hey, guess what? This body has been through a lot. A little TLC is in order so be kind to yourself.” Yours probably was, too.
I’ve always asked for a copy of the operative note because it satisfies my medical curiosity. Here it is 4 am as sleep still eludes me after a long 12 hour shift and my hip can still be a little stiff and sore along with the back and other hip.Unfortunately they like to remind me I’m no spring chicken, as if I need reminding!:chuckmarch::loll:Anyway, I hope things are improving day by day. Is your physical activity as tolerated? How’s that going for you? Keep us posted. Hugs. Pat.

Thanks so much for all your kind words , I'm trying to relax and get this anxiety under control as far as pain goes I'm sorry to report that it hasn't gotten any better yet :scare: but at this point in recovery I'm not going to get too discouraged . I have my post op appointment on Tuesday to have my stitches removed and I'll speak to the surgeon about my pain , not expecting too much from him at this point being that he only gave me a 50/50 chance of this working in the first place :groan:my experience with this Dr has not been good at all!!! I would not have even used him but he was the only one who did this procedure so I basically felt like I had no choice , I will however try to stay as positive as I can be during all of this knowing that someday there will be an end to my pain :angel: if there's anyone with any advice please please please let me know what I can do
TIA
