THR Juanita's Hip Recovery

I had ongoing problems with the psoas after my second THR and much of your frustration in not getting the original surgeon to even listen. I had the psoas release on New Year's Eve (insert the Hallelujah Chorus here) and the difference is amazing. I still have more difficulty lifting that leg high (knee above waist) and range of motion isn't perfect but it's still improving.

I go out dancing regularly (@Mojo333 will be shocked (NOT) to hear this), I hike (even in hilly areas), I've started powerlifting and (most important of all) I can sleep without waking with a jolt of pain every time I move or roll over.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have on here.

It will get better!
How did everything go with your procedure?

I'm supposed to be getting a phone call on Monday (my birthday of all days:loveshwr:) to supposedly be offered a surgery date for December , but we shall see . I'm not really holding my breath at this point , because everything else has not worked in my favor . I am trying to deal with all of this nonsense as best as I can I just want an end to this horrible pain so I can enjoy my last year in my forties:dancy:

Fingers and toes are also crossed for you.

I'll tag @SaraK for you to make sure she sees your question.
She sounds to be doing very well indeed.:dancy:

Happy Birthday...a day early. A birthday flower for you
I hope you get that phone call you're expecting so you can get things rolling with your recovery. Let us know what you hear. Hopefully the end of your agony is in sight. Wishing you comfort and a great birthday. Do something special tomorrow. You've earned it. :)
@Ryesgma

I hope your birthday present is a call with a quick surgery date. The psoas release made a HUGE difference in my life! It was the little things like sleeping thru the night without pain when I rolled over that told me, within a few days, that the surgery was the right decision.

I'm almost a year out from it and it's still harder to lift that leg as high (I can do almost anything normal but would have trouble rock climbing) but I never followed through on the more intensive PT exercises for that. That side still has less range of motion than the other but that doesn't really cause any issues.

I am out hiking - flat and hilly areas, dancing and in the gym - all without pain. I'm even powerlifting!

Happy Early Birthday! In fact I am looking at the clock and I see it's almost here! At least in my neck of the woods.
I sure hope you receive the phone call and get a surgery date!
It certainly isn't too much to ask to be able to enjoy the last year in your forties.. I'm wishing this for you, too!

Wish I could make it a pain free day for you...
Hope you get your call soon, my friend.

Wish this hip issue was sorted but

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend :loveshwr: we unfortunately got slammed with snow of all things lol , had a lot of family that couldn't make it up here but still had a great time and outstanding food :snow plough:my pain will not let up but I'm counting the days (30 to go) until hopefully this will end . I am however going tomorrow for a MRI of my spine so my original os will finally shut up about it possibly being a problem with my back and not my hip ( apparently he doesn't want to listen to me) I'm only going through with it because I don't want to be labeled as non compliant. I can't wait for him to call me on Tuesday (wish I could say I told u so :happydance:) I'll have to let you know how that conversation goes lol . Hope everyone is doing well .

I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving despite the weather and the ongoing pain. We have to find bright spots whenever and wherever we can sometimes.
I can't believe 2020 is at our doorstep.
Hang in there friend...
