THR JKWHIPPIE'S Recovery Thread

I'm able to walk around the house without the cane! I have been driving, and went to the grocery store and cooked dinner last night. Still feeling a bit of cabin fever though.

Fast forward a few more weeks...:heehee:

Sorry, I'm sure you will have better suggestions but good all night sleep was SO elusive for me.
Very frustrating.:oyvey:

Much sympathy however.
It does get better...eventually.

@JKWHIPPIE Wow! :yahoo:Such an advantage to have the left vs. the right regarding driving, I guess. Sounds like you are recuperating well.:) Congratulations!
I am sure someone who has had surgery will have some suggestions.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes. thanks. Any thoughts on how to sleep better at night?

Yes, do some research on Magnesium and see what you think.
It worked for me.

Magnesium supports the following:
Bone health
Healthy blood sugar
Cardiovascular health
Muscle relaxation and nerves
Promotes healthy sleep (falling asleep and staying asleep)

An article on Magnesium -

Unlike other forms of Magnesium, Magnesium Glycinate might not cause as many side effects such as upset stomach or loose stools.

I hope you get some restorative rest and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

:wave: How are you doing? @JKWHIPPIE
I hope you're sleeping better at night. Dropping by to wish you a
Happy One Month Anniversary. Have a great Thursday and enjoy the weekend!

Thanks so much! I am almost back to normal! I have been driving for a few weeks, am in PT twice a week (and daily at home) visiting with friends and family, and even had my hair colored yesterday. Feeling productive and back to work. Still a bit of discomfort, and sleeping is sometimes challenging.

Thanks for updating! It's great to read how well you're doing. Please take it slow, so your awesome steady progress continues. It's still early days in the whole scheme of things at only one month post op. Especially given we want that implant in place for life.

It's nice to be driving again and able to visit family, friends, return to work and fulfill appointments to hide the dreaded grays! Thank goodness for hair color and hip implants, they both give us a look better than "gray old gimping granny". :heehee: I can say that as I'm your age. We have to keep a sense of humor about these things.:)

Wishing you the merriest Christmas yet and a fab 2020 too!
@JKWHIPPIE

Thanks so much. I've discontinued Tylenol during the day. Only at night. But am reconsidering taking some when I'm uncomfortable during the day. No need to be a hero when I can feel good.

Happy Two Month Anniversary!
I hope your holidays were enjoyable.
Onto a New Year with more healing and a brighter future in sight.
How are you doing? We'd love to hear from you next time you're on the forum.
A great week to you!
@JKWHIPPIE

Hello all:
I am approaching my 3 month anniversary feeling good! I just hiked 3 miles, and have been back in the gym working out normally for about 3 weeks. Flexibility is good; i've been able to tie my shoes for about a month, have traveled out of the country, and am 85% back to normal. However, I still have some groin discomfort, as well as IT band and quad issues. I've been foam rolling and stretching, which helps the IT band. The discomfort is most apparent while lying down and trying to sleep. But, I only need 1 ibuprofen to relieve it. (last day of PT is Monday) Thoughts?

Great update @JKWHIPPIE :egypdance:
I think some of the quad and IT band issues could be due to the fact that you have jumped back into your physical activity so energetically and I know for me...it never seemed to bother me until I stopped!
I was cautioned...Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Maybe reassess your workouts at gym, back off a tad perhaps. and remember that there is still healing happening.

Excellent job so far and lots of improvement to come.
Adding activity incrementally and giving things time to rebound after is key.
Hope today is a Good Day.:SUNsmile:

Happy Three Month Anniversary!
Great update. I think your issues will resolve over time. It takes patience but you're doing really well. Take care and enjoy!
@JKWHIPPIE

Happy Four Month Anniversary!
I hope your groin, quad and ITB issues are easing. Please us know how you’re doing when you have time.
Until then...all the best to you! :wave:
