MUA It's been a nightmare

Well, it's been 6 months since my RTKR, and a little less than 4 months since my MUA. I can now say, I no longer have any pain in my knee, just a little discomfort. Going up stairs much faster now, going down stairs is slower, but getting better. I have dropped the seat on my stationary bike twice, as the pedaling gets easier. Went to see my doctor last week, for my 6 month check up. I told him no more pain, working on ROM, as I slid my foot closer to the chair, he gave a thumbs up, and said, see you in 6 months. I still have a little swelling on the knee after activity, which he said would go away shortly, which I still ice.

It sounds like you are coming along just fine. Great that your doctor is happy with your 6-month check-up.

I was going to edit my last post, but I see there is a time frame to do so. The only thing I was going to edit is, I still have some swelling without activities. So for those out there who still have swelling after 6 months, you are not alone, course the MUA didn't help matters.

When you have an MUA, it sort of "resets" your recovery to square one. So, in a sense, you are really only four months out. It's completely normal to still have swelling at that stage of recovery.

The fact that you no longer have any pain is great! :ok:

And once that swelling does start going down, to where you can see what this new knee is going to look like, that ROM comes with it. I don't do many exercises anymore, other than stationary bike once or twice a day, for 5 or 10 minutes. Still do some heel slides while lying in bed. With no more pain in my knee, I find I'm on my feet more, and doing more daily activities, that gives the knee a good work out. I don't measure my ROM, I just know that it's getting easier to sit at the kitchen table, and not have my leg stretched out while eating.
