TKR Indieknee trying to recover

It was a lovely cozy day with just the 3 of us plus the 2 cats, who had a great time with boxes, paper and ribbon. It would have been nice to have a dusting of snow outside, but you can’t have everything.

I cooked Christmas dinner without too much trouble from The Knee, who was trying to keep a low profile, but failing miserabley. Then I thought back to last Christmas when I could hardly stand - there is a definite improvement! Lots of walking required tomorrow, i ate far too much today.

Happy Nearly New Year - only make resolutions you can keep :)

Oh boy, that leaves me out! I start out good, but loss it quickly.

This is what this surgery is all about! Try not to walk too much tomorrow. Take lots of breaks with ice and elevating whenever you can!

Happy Nearly New Year to you, too!

I wonder if the party will be black tie, casual or fancy dress?

I shall wear my monkey slippers with my best glitzy pj’s!

How are you doing today?

Thanks for asking - not bad except for the pain in my knee! I seem to have done a great deal of cooking, eating, socialising and walking so The Knee has to take 5th place for a change.
Hope you are well.

Sometimes our knees have to step back and just let us get back to living! I bet your knee will snap back quickly!

Thought I would update at just over 6 months post op.
I am still on pain meds, Tramadol and Lyrica as a nerve pain blocker and have just started back with pt. I don’t think the pt knows quite what to do with me now, so we end up with a gentle massage and some acupuncture, which is fine by me.

This may sound a bit negative after so many months but I could hardly walk before the op and now I can walk without a limp even if it’s a bit slow. Sometimes i use a walking stick (cane) but it does have a nice swirly purple pattern :)

I now regard myself as a “slow healer” - a phrase coined by a GP I saw the other day - it sounds so much better than wimp :)

Hope you are all well or wellish - Bye for now

From one slow healer to another.... no shame in my game and neither in yours.

I consider myself enjoying more of a scenic route to where everyone else is gonna end up anyways

I was nowhere near where I am now at 6 months!

Thought I’d check in. I hope everyone is as well as can be expected and that many have disappeared from here due to being entirely cured, or at least getting on well with their lives.
Just looking at my last message in January 2019 - 6 months post op - it seems a very long time ago.
I’m now 11 months post op and some things have changed and some haven’t.
Good news - I don’t have to use an extra loo seat anymore:heehee:
Good news - I’m off the heavy pain meds
Bad news - I’m still on pregabalin with 30/500 co-codamol.
Good news - depending on which way you look at it - I’m off to the pain clinic in July.
I still have pain, of a different kind. My knee hardware works well and my os has signed me back to my GP, but with the suggestion I be referred to a pain clinic.
The fleshy bits including the skin, around the hardware give me a whole new experience! As suspected some time ago I have #CRPS so I’m still pottering about with a stick.
Must end on a high note - I’m still able to work at my desk for short periods and enjoy short walks with my long suffering husband :friends:
Bye for now.

Hi, @indieknee :wave:Nice to hear from you! I’m glad there has been some improvement.

I’ve seen improvement in my ROM in this second year, and that my whole leg has continued to relax. I’m even doing some steps these days! So much for that silly Window of Opportunity!

I hope you continue to see improvements in your second year, too.
