TKR I'm new !

I imagine your new knee is making you walk differently. Hopefully, as you foot and ankle get used to your new way of walking. Clunking is certainly a normal, after surgery, complaint. It will get quieter as your knee heals. In the meantime, have you tried icing it?

I like the pun Celle ! Well today I took a step forward and had a much better day x

Just a quick update today I'm feeling a lot better and the painful clunking that I experienced from week 4 - 5 seems to have disappeared thank goodness. The knee is still clunking but not with significant pain anymore. I'm walking a bit further around the garden, and have been to the gym for a swim. So I'm swimming breaststroke but just using my arms and good leg, leaving my operated leg trailing behind me. Its quite easy really (but I was used to swimming before my operation) I managed 20 lengths and it was so liberating to be doing something normal. I relaxed in the Jacuzzi afterwards and actually felt really chilled out. It will be six weeks tomorrow and I have my six weeks appointment with Mr James and I'm hoping that he will say that I can start walking further. I feel that I am walking well even though I still feel as though something is strapped around my leg...that's weird. But on the whole feel that I am making good progress.
