Hip Infection Hip infection questions

Prayers this does the trick @Rusty67 and you can move forward with healing.
Wishing you a comfortable night. :console2:

I week in, all good so far.
However, a little bit unsure what happened before. After he first THR
, I was told that I had an infection within 3 weeks, and this seemed to be treated with antibiotics. Then, 6 months later, I got pain again, and a bone scan showed inflammation, then a scan with markers tested negative to an infection. I had tried antibiotics, and they miraculously took away the pain, so the surgeon gave me a biopsy, and found two bacteria there. I was then put on 6 months of antibiotics, but told that it would. It eradicate the bacteria, only control them. 5 months later, I tried skipping a day, only to find the pain returned and I could hardly walk for a couple of days.
So, before the hip revision, or 1-stage replacement, I stopped the antibiotics again, pain for a few days, which got better, but my ITB seemed to tighten up, and get painful.
The samples taken during the revision were completely clean - in 2 weeks, the lab could not get anything to grow!
Was this revision all in vain? Why, when I stopped taking the antibiotics, did I feel a difference in the hip, and couldn’t walk?
I have been on two weeks of a vancomycin drip, which surely will kill off almost anything (me included!) - I begin to wonder whether this was all a mistake!!?

@Rusty67, glad things are going well so far. I have no idea about your other questions. Don’t know why the difference in feeling. It sounds odd that skipping antibiotic one day would lead to pain so quickly, but I don’t know much. Try to focus on where you are now and moving forward, you can’t change what has already happened.

Hi @Rusty67
I'm sorry you're questioning and second guessing. I wish you weren't troubled by all.
Possibly consider asking Josephine to weigh in on some of your questions?
Prayers for peace of mind and a relaxing week.
