Hello Sash,
Yes, same thing happened to me. Right now I'm about 4 weeks post op. I was cruising for the first 14 days and all of a sudden started having stabbing pain in the groin. Needless to say I was frustrated. Started investigating all sorts of explanations as to why. Talked to my surgeon about tendon issues, possible bone fracture, etc... He basically said he thought it was normal and would resolve itself. And to be honest, so far he seems to be right. I cut down quite a bit on my PT. Made sure I am taking the pain meds regularly and generally taking it easy. And it seems to be better. Not gone completely but significantly better than it was a couple of weeks ago. Hang in there. Take it easy. And it should get better with time.

Hello @sash, :sneaker:at 7 mos post THR I still cruise through Bonesmart to catch up with fellow hipsters. Sorry to hear about your initial experiences. You DO have a positive attitude and that will be the biggest help! I did find early on that I could only sit in a chair for 30 minutes at a time… long enough to eat a meal. Also, I couldn't sit in a lounge chair. My body was telling me to lie down… flat for 30 minutes -- less time as I healed. 3x a day I would do those bed exercises squeezing glutes and pressing my knees into the bed, and ICE. This made a HUGE difference. All that soft tissue that got moved around is healing & getting tight, and you have sooo much swelling.
Keep the faith! Read everything that @sharonslp sent to you. I read those over and over again, esp at night when I could feel every little pain. Oh, I remember the black & blues on my belly. They faded fairly quickly. You'll be amazed at how true that healing article is -- like clockwork. It really kept me realistic about what to expect. Sending you healing wishes!:flwrysmile:

@sash, I hope the less time sitting helps. Pain is no fun, nor is the worry that accompanies it. I am 8 weeks out from my surgery and as I was writing my post to you, I had a random, shooting pain in my op side groin area. Sympathy pain? :wink:
Anyway, I'm willing to bet that between the icing and a bit less sitting time, you'll be fine in no time.

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing great. I had my 5.1/2 week check-up yesterday and while I was pretty nervous about the Xrays (as I am still having a lot of pain), I can now start putting weight on my leg so am no longer "non weight bearing", that's a huge relief. A couple more days using the walker until I feel steady and then I can use a cane.

I tried using the cane but boy it hurts when I put my weight on my leg, guess that is why I am still on pain meds, at least I am moving in the right direction. All in due time I guess, I have no limitations the Doctor advised so that is another good thing and I did not realize how much I missed sitting in a comfortable chair with my feet up...have a feeling my PT will say "no" to me being comfortable for a little while, she is a tough cookie...lol.

Anyway that is my update and I am happy :dancy:that I have come this far, now just that pain needs to subside...in time!

Have a great day!

:happydance::spin:

What a wonderful update! It is a great feeling to be able to start weight bearing and provides such a sense of freedom compared to being on the walker. I hope the pain lessens for you soon. Keep up the great progress! :)
