Wonderful update, @goldpm. I'm glad to hear that you are doing so well. I've been biking a lot, too. It's so wonderful to be able to do those things again. My hips are uncemented, too. I posted a before and after photo of my xrays on the last page of my thread.

Sorry to hear about the polyps. I hope your surgery goes well. I didn't use pain killers before my surgery. Hydrotherapy and machines at the gym gave me some relief. Your observations are helpful. Take care.

In general uncemented hips are used for most younger, more active patients.
So I've not actually been discharged yet, the consultant and his team would like to check me again at 12 months. I don't know how widespread this view is within the community of hip surgeons
This is more and more the norm here in the UK. I had appointments at 6 weeks, 6 months, 9 months and then 12 months to check on the implant. Was discharged after the 12 month check but will always be on their books in case anything happens. Typically you should have another x-ray at 5 years as well.
