TKR GKnee's Recovery Thread

I was so happy to hear from you actually sent you a personal message along those lines. My stamina is increasing, but that tightness in my knee is really bothering me. I'm trying to drink a lot of fluids as of the physical therapists I work with told me to really drink a lot to flush the lymphatic system. My knee looks a little distorted as there is still some swelling in that area. On Monday I see the dentist for a cleaning, and will be taking you for doses of penicillin in our prior to the procedure. I think all the sudden it hit me that this was a life-changing surgery. Thank you again for taking the time to write

You have helped me as well! I sent you a personal message to see if being surgical "twins" will help us get through the months ahead. Thank you for takimg time to give me encouragement.

Hi Karri,

Thank you for the note. My stamina is better thanks to going half days as well as the passage of time. What is bothersome is that my by blood pressure has plummeted since surgery. I'm having to see my internal medicine doc often for this. My knee is quite stiff amd some of this is from the awful chairs I sit in at work. I begin full time after Thanksgving.

My best to you,

Jeanne

Half days for 6 weeks helped me, too. I was fortunate that my school was so cooperative. I hope you discover what's causing your BP issue.

Sadly my colleagues have not been less than helpful and I've been in my district for 38 + years.

My superintendent asked where I'd like a handicap parking spot because the ones in place were across a snowy parking lot instead of near the entrance door and ramp I would be using to enter school. Working in the mornings only meant I didn't have to walk my kids to specials, so that helped. I did feel isolated from my colleagues though, I had never been away from my classroom for more than 3 or 4 days. To top that, things changed drastically that year and I had no idea, I felt blindsided. My whole team changed at the end of that year, so I did feel left out as I had no idea and thought we were all friends. My TKR taught me a lot of things, one was that people I thought were my friends, were just acquaintances.

It has been a long 9 months, but at 5 months the light at the end of the tunnel was brighter. I would like some guidance on the stiffness I still feel in the front. I am working full time and live on my own so I am active. My stamina has returned to normal and as a speech-language pathologist I travel between two schools so that is taxing.

Thank you, in advance, for any help. You saved me at the beginning of this journey.

Wonderful to hear how well you are doing. Full recovery from TKR can take a year or more, what you are experiencing is normal, it will go away over time. I suspect when summer break arrives, and you can go easier on your knee, the tight feeling will finally go away.
"Tight band" feeling across the front of my knee

You've done very well I am behind you just, and have the stiffness in the front too. Unfortunately I also have very tight muscles in both legs front back and side, and when I have had sufficient massage I hope to be as well as you are. Congratulations.:yahoo:

So good to hear a success story. I'm at 3 months on my RTKR. Had my ltkr a year ago. Seems like I've been recuperating forever. Trying to see the light at the end of my tunnel. Now dealing with withdrawal symptoms from cutting back on medication. Can't wait till I'm me again. Sleeping alot, don't know if it's just energy drain, or getting s little depressed. Anyway, great to hear of your success.☺

Here I am at 10 months post TLKR tomorrow, tax day! I'm concerned that over the past three days the front of my knee is stiffer than it has been. I'm also in some pain that I've not experienced in awhile. It is not red or warm so I'm wondering if this happens during recovery for others. Thank you in advance.
