I did not have much pain. I think maybe for a day or two I took a percocet q 4 hours but I was soon on 1/2 every 4 hours and only because the gentle stretching did cause ongoing discomfort. I did my stretching twice a day for three months and went on a permanent kneecation. So just be warned that it took weeks for the bend to get past 90, and it was after that when I could finally fully straighten. I kept it gentle and the slow route paid off.
Arthrofibrosis in my opinion is a disease and I still have it -- chronic synovitis with effusion and tight feeling. But life is all about compromises and considering that some people get stuck with poor ROM, I feel very grateful. Re: CPM, I always started my session at a low angle and raised it slowly over the 3 hours session. At that point I was tired of the pain, and I think avoiding pain is a good approach to recovery because anything that stirs up those tissues stirs up scar tissue. BTW I had no formal PT ultimately. I did it my way, and my way worked.
