Wow, bit worried about myself if its sounding this hard to get to sleep on your unoperated side then I don't know of I'll be able to mange.

I think it will get better as time goes by. As much as I want to sleep on my side, a good nights sleep is higher on the list. If that only happens on my back, then on my back it is. Don't get discouraged, patience is the name of the game right now. I was surprised when the Dr said it was okay to sleep on my side so soon and was greatly dissapointed when it wasn't comfortable at all to do so. I guess I thought once Doc said okay, it would be a breeze. That's when I was reminded the difference of can and able....Waking up this morning feeling like I was beaten up made me remember I am not done with this recovery thing yet...! Hang in there, we are all in this together!

How are you doing? I see you haven't posted for a while, are you sleeping better? Please let us know how you doing? Take care and Be Safe. Tashia

I had no restrictins on side sleeping, but couldn't sleep on the unoperated side till about 3 weeks. I can't really sleep comfortably on the operated side.

Well I had my 3 and 9 month checkups today with x-rays on both hips. Everything is going really well except I'm still sleeping on my back. My surguries were lateral, and when I do roll onto the right side (Apr 16 THR) with the help of a pillow, the left one (Oct 29 THR) starts aching after about 15 minutes. The only problem I'm having is climbing stairs without putting both feet on each step. I'm doing several butt muscle exercises for this, and they are helping. I only use my cane for stability when I go out (especially with snow and ice) and will be walking quite a bit. It is great to have full rotation back when walking! Really looking forward to a great summer, but have to get this winter weather over with first!
