I said I was a man lol. The best encouragement I have received on this site is from women, go figure lol. Mojo, Cricket hip and others but us men obviously like to debate and argue and be right lol. I went into my surgery as educated and read as much as possible looking at info on pre and post op PT, different surgical approaches, anathesia approach etc. So far my journey has been great with very fast recovery, limited meds with only a bump regarding superficial skin infection responding well to antibiotics. At 2 weeks was driving and could walk in house at 2 1/2 weeks without cane. My wish for all here is a healthy speedy recovery and ability to overcome any set backs.

We wish the same healthy, speedy recovery and ability to overcome any set backs. We all probably all seem like a bunch of worry warts but we do means well. I'm glad your PT is not pushing you beyond your comfort zone. Here's wishing to you the happiest holidays! I know it's early but love playing with the new emojis!

You seem to be doing well at not even One Month post op. The best news is you're not afraid to advocate for yourself and if something hurts or causes you discomfort, you'll stop, or refuse to do it.

Many members are aftraid to take a stand with their PT and let their therapist push them assuming the PT knows best. PT's don't always know best or we wouldn't read the stories as often as we do of those who've been hurt or sidelined in their recovery through overly aggressive therapy sessions.

Steady, slow and easy will get you there. I believe you agree.
I hope you have a great week!

Yesterday marked the 5 week point since my TLHR. I have been very blessed to this point and am walking 30 - 40 minutes for excercise per day divided into 2 sessions (20 minutes each). I am continuing my PT which has gone well. I hope that everyone here had a good Christmas and hope each new day you all show improvement with your new hip. Thanks for the check in Layla !!

Well Happy 5 Weeks! I like that you're splitting your walk into two sessions so that you don't overdo. Couldn't hurt to add some ice when you come back from your walks if you aren't already, just as a precaution. :walking::ice:

Hi all, checking in 2 months post surgery. My recovery continues to go well and my PT will be done in about a week. As I mentioned earlier my Therapist was gentle and worked me at my pace so I felt the PT was very helpful. I’m looking forward to warmer weather and golf season. Wishing you all speedy recoveries and blessed health !!

Any idea on when you can golf again? I could of swore they were talking about 6 weeks when I first started this. Then I was sure it was 12 weeks. I asked the PA during my hospital discharge and she said "we can have you chipping and putting at 12 weeks". Arrggg!

I think it’s a case by case situation. Honestly I have already hit a few balls swinging about 60% without any issue. Think our body’s feedback is the best judge of this. I know at 12 weeks there should be no issue for me to be swinging 100% :loll:

Happy Three Month Anniversary!
Hopefully you'll be hitting the links soon.
Give us an update once you really get to swinging those clubs, we'd love to hear all about it.
Until then...all the best to you!

Three months...already???
Happy belated 3 month hipversary @Noel310 :tada:
Things were getting pretty good at 3 months for me, but I felt like 4 months out was my biggest turnaround.
Hope you are doing well.

Thanks, yes seems to go quickly. My LHTR went pretty smoothly and happy for thought. I was told about the initial numbness to expect and maybe I’m being impatient but still have the nerve numbness around where hip was replaced. Maybe the next 3 months will see this subside???

Yes, I think that is a reasonable expectation.. that the next three months gives you more feeling in and around the incision..
But I wonder, is it really a big deal if the numbness remains in that small area?
I had a severe injury to my left elbow 20 years ago and it remains numb around the incision.
The arm works perfectly for me, which the specialists gave me little hope for, so that's why I ask.
I'd gladly have a better functioning joint and settle with the numbness.

You are at 3 months! Congrats! The next 3 months will be smaller victories but I thought those were the most exciting.

I thought the numbness might end up being collateral damage...which, though a bit disconcerting, I reckoned still beat out the horrid hip pain and decreasing mobility.:) :-) (:
Lessened over time...and all is normal now

You are correct it is a minimal compared to all else going so well. Thanks for checking in on me! Hope you both have a great week.
