So glad to hear you are doing so well. Just be prepared for a set back now and then. Not that I am saying you will have one but just don't get discouraged if you do. This is such a roller coaster recovery, one day you feel like you are ready to conquer the world and then you wake up and can't get out of bed! One thing I do know for sure is that no matter how good you feel keep on icing and elevating or that could change quickly!

@kpr66
I loved loved loved the glue. Could shower immediately, no stitches to remove and the scare is minimal. the hard part was not helping the glue along once it started peeling.

That is great you are doing so well. Congratulations on making to the other side and then being a stellar healer. :thumb:

Who's the cutie patootie you're holding in your avatar? :)

That's my granddaughter, love of my life! Will be two in April, got to figure out how to keep her entertained since I can't bounce her on my knee for awhile. She definitely loves her grandpa! Thanks for asking.

Snap! - My avatar is of me with my two year old grandson, I absolutely adore him and luckily he does me!
I do hope your recovery continues to go well, remember we are all on here for you if you need to ask anything or just want to chat. Take care, x Ellejay

Grandchildren make the world go round! My 2 loves are with me as well...Kenny & Charlie! Nana's greatest loves!

Day eight. Nurse coming over this afternoon for checkup. Feeling good, pain level at about 3. Doing some walking out front, leg exercise, taking meds as directed. All in all feeling good about my recovery.

Good news for you!, I had no staples and the glue thing seemed to work ver well for me too.

All in all feeling good about my recovery.
So glad you are doing so great in your recovery!!! Hope it continues and you continuously move forward and never go through any setbacks! :)

Glad to hear things are going so well for you! I was lucky to only have my incisions glued and I do believe that made things easier for me. Just knowing I could take a shower the day after surgery lifted my spirits! Just remember not to over-do……and we all do it at some point in our recoveries. We feel like this isn't so bad after all and do something we've been itching to do, and end up paying the price.

Able to dress myself, wash up and make my own breakfast. Turning out not to be as bad as I thought it would be. Just have to remember to take it easy.

Great to see you are doing so well so soon!

I am so glad that you are doing well. Just be careful--although you feel well, your stamina is down and even a little car trip will wipe you out.

Great that you are doing so well @kpr66, you'll be an encouragement to others who are fearful that TKR has to be bad. So you are the star patient at PT, that is wonderful news, keep it up!!!

Hi all. Day 10. Still feeling good. Weaning of my oxycodone, do not like taking narcotics. Down from 10mg every 3 hours to 10mg every 5 hours. PT coming along, amazing how they can manipulate your knee. Walking 10minutes twice a day, with walker. Getting into a routine of CPM ,then ice and rest. Then exercise, then ice and rest. CPM 6 hours a day, exercise twice a day. Swelling slowly coming down. Had a visit with my grandbaby Sat. Boy is she fascinated with the walker! Will post later.

Glad to read that things are still going well for you. Even though you don't like taking the pain pills, be careful about coming off of them too quickly. At 10 days you still have a long way to go so you don't want that pain to build and get away from you. There is no prize for getting rid of the pain meds fast!

Wow! Just had what could of been a big setback. Went for my walk, and all of a sudden my knee buckled! Good thing I listened to my PT and always used my walker. My wife was next to me but never could have caught me in time. Lessons learned, for me and anyone else on this forum, never think you are invincible and take unnecessary chances, be careful and take it easy.

True KPR, especially this early on . I understand about the oxy . I stopped taking those at day 5, however I also had tramadol, celebrex and tylenol. The pain , thank God ! Has never been much of an issue . My issue was due to minimal pain I did feel invincible so I started doing much to much , way too soon , Causing internal swelling. Tomorrow will start my 4th week . I stopped driving , shopping and doing house chores and basically have been laying here iced and elevated. My bend has increased and im happy . Feel free to read my thread, the iceman cometh !! You will find it funny and hopefully helpful. Best wishes ICEMAN

Thanks Iceman, read your threads, good reading! I'm pretty active so naturally I want to get up and go. Think I''ll take everyone's advice and slow it down.

I have no stitches, no staples, he uses glue to close the incision!

When I was a nursing student (at age 56!), I was sent in to take staples out of a patient's TKR. She was in a "swing bed" which is kind of like rehab but in a hospital. Her incision had gotten infected, was better but still angry. She did not take my efforts well, and so I went and got my proctor and said, can't we ice this incision down and then remove the staples? Well, that nurse set her jaw and growled "No!" taking the staple remover from me and went in to finish the job (I couldn't look). When it was my turn to have TKR, I stated that I would like stitches and no staples.

Glad you're recovering well (although, to be honest, I'm jealous).
