Day 1 of a new lease on life

Zooming right along, I feel stronger and I am doing many of my normal everyday tasks, had a bit of discouragement at PT today, I asked the the Therapists how long most of his patients usually use walkers and he said "2-3 Weeks" I'm almost at my 3 week mark and am still on my walker, I'm discouraged, but I guess everyone heals differently. He thinks it may be mental since I have had to deal with that weak leg for many many years now.
Anyway I hope I get off of the walker soon and continue the journey forward.

Hope you are all doing well!

Maurice

Indeed they do and depending on how long you limped around before surgery it can take a bit. What seems impossible one day will be easy the next. Fear not - you are doing just fine @shabazz !

@shabazz

Maurice, sounds like you are going along perfectly. Now a I remember you had AVN in both hips and a really bad gait. Staying on the walker is good for you to build strength and the stronger on the walker, the better the crutches will be..?You want to start your new gait off correctly after limping for so long..?Just remember tortoise and hare!

Sending you a big Canadian Prewinter hug!

Cheryl

Know how you feel Shabazz. I am at 4 weeks and Went to PT yesterday. He told me I am not ready to get off walker, I am too weak. At first I was a little deflated, but after awhile just let it go. We will get there In the end and a few extra days or weeks down the road won't mean a thing. Just getting there and doing it safely is imperative. As long as I feel just a little better and stronger every day I'm good with that. Hope it won't be long till we can take that next step.
