Thanks @jaycee. Do you think the anesthesiologist didn't realize he was awake? He said he didn't feel a thing though, so that is a hell of a relief. When we left, he was in no pain because of the spinal still I guess. About 3 hours into our 5 hour trip home, he really started feeling the pain. We did stop every hour-hour and a half to get him out of the car and try to walk a bit, but he started getting dizzy, so just made him stand there for about 5 minutes. When we got home it all hit him and he was feeling very sore and naseous. That passed in 10 minutes

No, the anaesthesiologist was watching him the whole time. They monitor patients through the entire procedure. I didn't have a sedative during my LTHR and woke up. I made sure they put me all the way out the second time around. It's not painful - just noisy as THR is a bit of carpentry.

It sounds like your hubby may need to focus on pain meds. If he is nauseous ask for anti-nausea medication and be sure he takes his meds with a bit to eat. Sitting for any length of time post THR is very challenging.

Ok guys, I had to take a HUGE leap back with my other posts...I felt they were getting a LOT too personal on here; having said that, I am back and would like to fill y'all in on the outcome and the new TLHR recovery.

Again, I am sorry I left you guys, I really am...it was, like I said, getting too personal for my comfort.

Soooo...after first rpl, it finally worked itself out. I got half of my hubby back. It was such a great feeling to see him walk again...then the left hip reared its ugly head...I think it was saying sod off, it's my turn now! After the right hip was done, it was so hard to watch the love of my life lose 30 pounds, wither up and feel like dying because of the pills. After that **** was done, it felt SOOOO good to see him walk again and want to do stuff. Surgery was 100%worth it

Left hip rolls around on 9/17. We thought we had this in the bag, right hip collapsed and what could be worse? Those darn pills. I hate seeing my husband, the man I love, be brought to his knees again, for the final time. I know it's gonna get better, but it still hurts. To be honest, this time was much better, I gave up being the pill nazi and decided I would let him deal with the pills and how bad his pain is...it worked, and so much less stress on both of us.

In short, the new hips are worth it, I see a long life ahead of us with actually being able to do stuff. I thank, from the bottom of my heart, Dr John Diana at St. Helena hospital in California for giving him his life back!!

@daniel95503, I have been wondering how you and hubby were doing!! I pop on and off here every once in a while. My DH is 4 months down the road and doing great. Walking more and farther than ever!! And enjoying it.

So happy that things are looking up for you. Before you know it, it will all be ancient history.
