I, too, had microfracture surgery, just a little more than one year before a TKR on my left knee. I wouldn't say that the TKR recovery will be a snap compared to the microfracture recovery. They are very different and challenging in their own ways. With the microfracture, you were basically immobile for a 12 week period, but the pain you felt is not as severe. With the TKR, you will be able to get around much faster, but the more intrusive surgery and pain to follow, along with other things like insomnia can add up.

Bottom line is this: Be in a good frame of mind and don't try to do too much. Rest, ice, elevate, and take your pain medicine on the clock, and you will have a successful and fruitful recovery.
