@Machine, you are now an

! Sorry you've hit a bump in recovery road so early---but it does mean you're getting the rest your hip needs this early in the game.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

Thanks for asking @bottomshollow.
I was discharged from the hospital this past Sunday, 11 days after the surgery. I have to admit i was starting to get a lityle down thinking I may never leave the hospital. The doctors wanted to treat me aggressively due to the PE. They were finally able to dial in the dosage of inderol (beta blocker) to get my HR under control while keeping my BP in a good range.
I've been home 2 days now and have had a nurse visit as well as a PT visit each day. Everything seems to be going pretty well now. I have appointments with my PCP and surgeon over the next couple of days.

@Machine So glad to hear you're home and things are getting under control. You might feel like you've lost ground in recovery dealing with this other stuff - but don't. I am only a couple days ahead of you post-op and only just had my first at home PT today. In the end, we all end up at our "new normal" - the journey and getting there healthy is the important part.

You said they had to cut through your muscle - they did mine as well. I'm not allowed any exercises where my leg is extended out to the side for at least 4 weeks. Do you have any idea how the muscle is cut - I mean in which direction? Most of my tightness/discomfort is at the top of my thigh - almost in the crease - on the outside edge and around to my lower bum cheek. Is that what you're experiencing?

Hi @Machine , I've been looking for your thread, but for some reason not seen it til today. I'm glad to hear you're home and getting better, but that must have been a scary 11 days! I look forward to hearing how you mend now :) Best wishes from your 'hip twin'!

Hi @moms4tne Actually they didn't have to cut the muscle, although going in he did say that it would be a possibility. The surgeon mentioned it was difficult to do without cutting since my leg muscles are quite large, but fortunately he didn't have to cut. So unfortunately I can't answer your question about how the muscle gets cut.

@Machine We are the same age. :)

Sorry you had some complications. Hopefully you will start to feel better each day now that you are home. I had surgery just one day before you. I've just been resting and relaxing. Nothing crazy has happened... still limping around... slowly progressing... so I don't think you've missed too much by being in the hospital.

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this horrible nerve pain I'm having in my foot. My surgery was 3 weeks ago tomorrow. Most of my hip pain has subsided except for a dull ache that I can pretty well manage with 2 Percocet 5/325mg tablets every 4 hours(12 per day). I'm also taking 100 my of Neurontin 3x daily.

The pain that is really bothering me the most is in the nerves of my foot. In particular the inside side of my foot continuing to my big toe. It bothers me most at night and makes it difficult to sleep. The surgeon feels that the sciatic nerve issues I've had since immediately after the surgery were due to the spinal and has referred me to a pain mgmt specialist at this point. Immediately after the surgery I couldn't move my foot or toes at all. That has improved about 85% now but this nerve pain is really annoying.

Appreciate any input. Thanks

What sort of nerve pain is it, @Machine Kevin? I've had twitching and pins and needles down my leg, and in the last couple of days I have had a couple of sudden stabbing feelings in the incision itself... Is it like either of those, or something different?
