BTKR to come - scared!

Hi Betkita welcome to BoneSmart
I have not had a TKR but I have had major surgeries. The pain was well managed and was nothing compared to the pain I was having before the surgeries. The pain after surgery will go away and you will be able to enjoy life again
 
Hi Betkita, All the advice has been great on this thread; lots of positive points about pain. Do you have a surgery date yet?
 
I'm four days out from BTKR and can attest that, even with a two year history of using narcotics for pain control, my knee surgery pain has been totally manageable. It's notbeen anywhere near what I feared it would be!

I was on Lortab for 3 yrs and have been off of them now for one month. Doctor says that anyone on pain meds that long will have trouble with managing pain after surgery. Anyone relate?

Betkita, I had BTKR on 9/6/11 and have not experienced any of this "horrible pain" I kept hearing about. It's been far easier than I anticipated. I so wish I could figure out how to post a video of me walking one week out. Trust me when I tell you it would ease your mind. I'm hearing that I'm an "atypical" patient, but I'm really NEVER on the good side of "atypical"!

I'm wishing you the same as I've experienced and look forward to readingbyour threads in post-op! Focus on all the wonders headed your way!

Even when I follow these directions, it does not give me the option o browse for photos on my iPad. Boo. And I wanted to how off my walking at one week after surgery. How and where would I post that?
 
If you have a video, you could post it on YouTube and then link it here.

I'll tag Richard Robins, our tech expert, for some help with the files from your iPad. @RichardRobins:
 
Ah Ipad, I don't have one of those myself so unsure if the ability to browse for files is commonly found.

anyone else have same issue on ipad with files?
 
No mystery - the larger picture is of a dear friend, BoneSmartie and member of staff, Nancyo, who is currently very ill. I just like to keep her presence active in the forum. The smaller one is me because so many people have posted about Nancy's pic, obviously under the misapprehension that it was me.

As for doing an avatar, you need to check that the image you want to use is not more than 180 by 180 pixels or 48.8 KB (whichever is smaller). How to post an avatar

But what links aren't active? :scratch:

Betkita, I finally figured out how to post a video. Please check it out on my Dancing Dragon Slayer thread. I don't think everybody does quite this well, but you might feel a bit better after seeing me walking at 5 days post BTKR.
 
I haven't been on here for a while. My surgery on Jan 5 2012 seems like an eternity away! I mostly just sit in my recliner all day because of the pain i am in. How can I stand another 2 months? I am usually an active person and my husband says i used to never sit down. This is making me mad that i can't get around to do simple things like housework! Sorry to be complaining, but this pain is making me soooo grouchy:hairpulling:
