Bit the bullet

PDH63 I'm scared to bits but know deep down I have to have this done. I have just over a month to wait and already the time has flown by since I was told I needed the op. Just think, by Christmas you will be running around and pain free :)

Look at you now , over and done with and on the other side , I remember your posts and journey and reading your post op posts now , ''time flies'' .

I'm one of those people who are too optimistic :rotfl: , I wouldn't admit to the pain , there will be a cure , even to my OS the first trip to him , not giving the full extent of the problem .
I keep active to keep my mind occupied , works for me , can't sit down for too long on my own without the thought of the op , scary and anxiety provoking but TG I don't think about it too often and most of the time I turn it around to optimism , '' get it over ant done with , no more pain , back to activities I'd given up and get back my quality of life '' . I find it helps to log on and read the posts here , I am not alone and feel better after doing so .
I find that facing up to my fears and ''putting them down on paper'' helps as well , I am scared , it's normal .

Just over five weeks , like Red Shoe , It won't be long passing .

Just over three weeks left .

I had the hospital check up today , bloods , MRSA screening and chat with hospital Physio, all good .
I'm feeling OK about it at the moment , getting some training and cycling done , that and sitting down are the only times I'm not in pain sounds like a contradiction but normal according to physio and OS .

I'm heading to Lanzarote for a holiday next week and looking forward to that hopefully that will keep the thoughts of the Op at bay .

At this stage now the pain has got so bad walking and lying in bed I'm ''kind of'' looking forward to getting it over and done with .

I'm still waiting for the full blown anxiety of having the Op hopefully it will stay away , that would be great , or I'll get it just before theatre .

Time does fly , I've seen so many people on this site post pre op and are now posting ''On the other side'' .
I'll be there soon .

Came back from holidays Tuesday night , I was ok all week but when it was time to start packing it hit me hard , the reality that I'd be in hospital in a weeks time and getting THR the next day .
I've hardly slept , eating for the sake of eating appetite gone and guts in turmoil .
I'm very anxious but just want it over with , I keep reading on here that the worst part of it all is the lead up , I can certainly believe that now . I haven't been on the site for a while , I was scared to see anything about pain and the operation , trying to keep it out of my mind and kept busy and it's worked until now .

I was thinking today after getting final check up from the dentist that I'd only been there four weeks ago and was on holidays last week and it all past so quickly and I have to remember that . ( '' Time flies '' )

This time next week I'll be on the other side , can't wait , then looking forward to getting off the crutches and after that getting back to cycling , walking and lots more , including the stuff I'd stopped doing for many years because of the pain .

Good luck to everyone else In October and the 16th like me .

Good luck with it all, and don't stress about being stressed about it, you are absolutely normal. Think positive thoughts about the pain free future ahead of you. Best wishes with it all, and i look forward to your positive posts in the recovery area.

PDH63, you are so correct in saying the lead up to surgery is very stressful.. You are right to focus on your future and recovery.. This time next week that is the stage where you will be at :)

Tibs Poppet
Thanks , much appreciated .

Just looking back , posted very quickly yesterday , I talk about time flying , it has and I'm not too bad today just getting the last bits sorted around the house and ready for recovery .

Funny , my partner had a medical procedure done yesterday and my father had a syst surgicaly removed today and I've been looking after them , ''funny'' in that I'm trying to keep my mind off Wedensday and all this comes up :hairpulling:
:rotfl: , I've been very good about it and glad to be able to help them and it's actually helped me .

Can't wait to post on the other side and tell ye :
'' I don't know what all the fuss was about ''

PDH63 may I guarantee you will be fine dear hippy from the emerald isles . The lead up is the worst and as soon as you wake up you will be concentrating on getting on the move. The op pain is what you would expect but no where near as bad as the bone pain you had before :kittykiss:

Red Shoe Thanks
I can remember posting on your thread about how quickly time had passed for you and now look at me WOOHOO
I'm looking forward to joining you on the other side , I'm getting confident and your post has helped even more .

Hope your singing your heart out as we say here :)

Op eve here now , time has flown , I'm heading up to the hospital now , The Bons Hospital in Cork , Ireland , admission at 2:00 pm GMT and op tommorrow , don't know what time yet .

I'm surprised I'm calm at the moment and just want to get it over and done with ( Put me to sleep now and wake me up in six weeks :rotfl: , if only it was so easy ) .

I'll try and make some posts during the week but if not I'll start my new thread on the other side when I get home .

Good luck to everyone else having Ops tommorrow , see ye on the other side :)
