@Birdy, Sorry, I forgot about the time change. Glad to hear your tummy feels better. Sounds like you are on the way to a great recovery

Birdie, I saw your comments about going to re-hab in Sydney and that you are in Macquarie Hospital. I was there in March for RTKA and then went to rehab and like you was a bit unsure about what to do. We live in a house with no steps, easy for moving around but was recommended to go to Lady Davison. It was a good move as I got so much help with all aspects of recovery, therapy, meds, and fellow post ops to talk to. I am sure you will benefit and you can always leave early. How did you find MUH ? I was very impressed.
My recovery has been slower than I expected, included a quick MUA at 6 weeks ( another saga) but now at 20 weeks is so much better than pre op. Hope you are recovering well. Hoo roo

Hi @Skippy glad to know you are happy with rehab hospital. I waited for Ambo since 9am, Ambo finally arrive Macquarie hospital at 12:30 to transport me to Mt Vilga. Arrived 13:15' and since then only a girl came to interview me and write down something such as dress /shower need help, smoker? Home situation etc. the ice bucket wasn,t here yet (no ice pack)' medication wasn,t here yet although asked many times, nothing impressive yet. I will ask for med and ice again, hope later or tonight will prove management here is upto its eruption. But when I arrived, sand itch and juice, fruit did arrived straightaway. Lol

Birdy, you might have to be the "squeaky gate" and keep asking for what you need, until everything is sorted out. Whatever else happens, don't let your regular medication schedule go off track.

Birds, you are at a different rehab to the one I went to but they need to take good care of you, especially with medication, ice paks and a welcoming cuppa!! Perhaps you have to ring the buzzer and remind the staff that you need help.:flwrysmile:

Yes @Celle I finally get Panadol 2tablet, and they said Panadine forte not available as "your doctor stopped it"' said other med will be at 7pm.@Skippy I am quite impressed with MUH, management and nurses are quite friendly and helpful but they all rather young. During my stay I hv probably 15 different nurses, only two failed. The worst was a night nurse at 5th night, when I first needed help, she signed loudly. I asked for ice pack and two more blankets, said I was in pain and shivering, she said she is working so she,s quite warm, one hour later I still can,t sleep and ice pack no longer cold, and I felt hot ,she said you said you were cold, so are you cold or hot? I said don't you know Post Op patient very fragile and body react differently, she said she can,t compare people, but do you want blankets removed or not. Next day I have to vent on morning nurse and she said I can complain, I didn't,t but I just happy that she only worked one day a week, and she wasn,t my nurse for first four days.

Whoosh!! That is not good!! Her job is to keep the patient comfortable and stress free......fail, fail! Hope you meet better care where you are now... Although Panadol seems a pretty lightweight pain relief....I needed far more than that, so fingers crossed the evening brings delightful pills to see you through the night..

Glad to report @Celle @Skippy that my med arrived well, ice carton arrived after persist request, it is kind of interesting, string ice water from ice carton (fill with ice cubes)' to plastic pack around knee, for 30 minutes.ok, I got my med and ice, TV Internet and phone working, I m happy now.

Good news!! Glad you are getting comfortable, hoping you have a really quiet night.....it's very chilly outside so snuggle down well.

@Birdy Just checking in to see how you are doing. So glad you finally got everything straightened out. Behave and stay away from the mean nurse lol. Hopefully you won't have to see her again. They are supposed to help not hinder your recovery. Maybe she needs some help. I know at night there are limited nurses but no reason to be nasty:ice:

Glad that you are doing good. There always seems to be a couple of nurses you could do without but most are very good and compassionate I had a nurse from Australia and she was the best of them all she was the only one that took the time to make sure pain meds were on schedule and that I had proper ice she was great

Post Op 9 days, have assessment 9:30 at rehab, walked with crutches, suggested me to walk with my right foot turning bit inward, said OS only did TKR, but maybe my muscle adjusted to cope with damaged knees prior to TKR, he hope through massage and walk with foot turning inward will improve. did 20 heel slide, inner range quads, measure ROM etc,but didn't tell me results. Today I m more impressed with this rehab, just the first day not too good.will have 2 physio, or one water therapy one physio weekday, Sat only 1physcio. Pain ok, sleep ok.

@Birdy , wow !! Your knees look awesome . Not much swelling ? Scar looks very neatly done! I know you will do wonderful. Keep us updated and I wish you a speedy recovery.

@Lili thanks, I think it looks good too, no incision, and doctor said not much swelling. But my bad tonight, nausea has not happened for 4days, in operation hospital, the nursing team put lots of efforts to delivery med on time as they knew I am notoriously nauseous, but after transfer to rehab hospital, I didn,t pay as much attn to if nausea med comes (I assumed it is included in the med cup As it was in operation hospital notes)' and since I has not been nauseous 4days in a roll, I kind of let my guard down and only pay attn to pain med. tonight after dinner, I have a full vomit. We fellow TKR ers really need to focus on looking after our needs.

@Birdy I had a little nausea while in the hospital. I think most was due to medication. My Doctor ordered a mouth swab genetic testing and found I was sensitive to certain medications. I was surprised at the list of things I can't take. Maybe ask about it. It is now in my medical records .

you really are having a hard time Birdie, I hope that you can see a doctor who can give you details of your medication and when they are dispensed to you. You need all the help you can get to recover. Hope you have a peaceful night.

TKR @Pescara @Skippy, asked 2 Endone at 22:20 last night, and now 01:20, both with biscuits. Gee once the pain bug put to sleep, much brighter immdly

You're knees look wonderful! Hope each day is easier than the day before

I post too quick, not long after my latest post, vomit again, only water. @wings thanks. So today rehab Dr checked, we agreed to have Maxalon as regular med with each meal to keep food down, and 2 Pandal or Endone every 4 hour plus a tiny blue rectangle tab (12hour slow release) as pain med, then 1 hr b4 each physio or hydro session, have wafer under tongue for nausea then wait 30 min for wafer to work and followed with 2 Endone so it will boost the physio Englert and outcome. It make sense to me, will report if else. 2 x 30 minutes physio today went beautifully, neither hurt nor tired afterwards. ROM Right 102 Left 104. Thanks supports and encouragement my friends. Have a good weekend!

So sorry you're going through those tummy troubles. I hope they are able to get that sorted in short order; you certainly don't need that. Your ROM figures sound good. Yay! And having both PT sessions be comfortable is good news, too. Hang in there, Birdy. You're still in early days and things will get better
