@Peaches they DO make wild tedhosen-- I saw some good ones in maybe a Footsmart catalog recently. Would you like to go live on Etsy with a matching set of teds+stinkytoiletriserdecoratedtomatch??

Seems the winebibbers outnumber the caffeine drinkers, so we shall have to set up another table with wine munchies. Chips and guacamole is more for beer, but I will set it out anyway. I bought a couple of pumpkins, so later we can carve those with hippie designs!

Also, a nice warm loaf of banana bread for @sharonslp 's black coffee.
Now I crave sweet carbs....

@Jaycey take those packing boxes carefully!!! :) :)

Jaycey our posts crossed! Hope it is not anyone near and dear to you who is expecting a tap dance recital from you. Keep calm and tell people you are under strict medicAl restrictions; make it sound ominous... ;) :rotfl:

@Jaycey Whao! You need to tell those people where to get off! Some people can be so ignorant and downright mouthy. It will be interesting to see how those so full of opinions cope with a major surgery one day.

A tap dance recital followed by spinning plates and a 5 course dinner (home cooked of course). After all, THR is just like getting your toe nails clipped! :sigh:

Chiming in here....the more you do, the more everyone EXPECTS you to do...the better you look, the better everyone EXPECTS you to feel, it's a lose-lose scenario when that starts....so do what I've done....park your lard tush in your recliner, demand an ice pack be brought to you asap, and tell them you're ready for a nap if they will kindly leave you alone. :rotfl: Oh, and look at them like their NUTS!

Hi Jaycey! 10 days of healing for us....I am being a real lazy butt. Parked in bed with ice pak and Legs elevated watching Dr. Phil reruns.....These meds make me tired ad loopy. Sorry your work place is being so difficult about your time off from surgery. No one understands what joint replacement is like until they go through it. Hugs! Joan:SUNsmile:

@Jaycey ....hmmmm.... Told ya you shouldn't be packing boxes ;)

The plate spinning person, have not they been through this once already? You have to put your foot down, er, both feet up! I am sorry for you, being expected so much of. Probably, though, you have a few takeout menus stuck to your frig-- pizza tonight!! Chinese tomorrow! Cold cereal Saturday!

Oh, @Jaycey ... I don't believe it! Here you are, someone who not only has had a THR already, but who is FORUM MODERATOR on the premier joint replacement site and forums. And people are still acting like you don't know that you could "do more"?? I think we should start a thread-within-a-thread right here with "the most ridiculous things people said and/or expected after my THR" ... I can start:

---"Oh surely by two weeks after surgery you won't even need to take a Tylenol."

Jaycey, you should take your spurned Teds and throw them at the next person who makes a ridiculous comment to you.

Take care. Hope you are getting more sleep.

I have decided to ditch these things after today. Lots of reasons, but note this is my personal choice and not what my surgeon/hospitals recommends.

I, too, am a bad girl as far as the TEDs go. My surgeon's booklet says to wear them for 6 weeks.
That would have driven me nuts. I wore one on my Non-TKR leg for 10 days, but gave it up as soon as I was getting up and about with reasonable ease. MY TKR leg never had one near it, as it was too swollen. By the time the swelling was gone down, I had ditched the blessed things anyway.

As Jaycey says, this is not BoneSmart advice. It was a personal choice. I do believe that people should (in general) follow the advice of their surgeons.

I've had a bunch of hip surgeries and I was never asked to wear TEDs afterwards. It's funny how different people get such different recommendations. I'm sure you are the best person to make the right choice for yourself, Jaycey.

I think this is my problem - I can't take the loopy meds so really am not feeling that zapped. Yes, there is definitely a limit to what I can do. But compared to my LTHR, mobility is much better and I really don't feel like sitting around doing nothing (sorry Jo).

Good idea! Here's another "can you just pop down to the bakery for some bread". What I wouldn't give to just "pop" anywhere. This measured stepping and limit to the amount of walking I can do is driving me nuts! Can't believe I am not even 2 weeks out yet! :boohoo:

At barely 2 weeks out people are expecting more of you....? You're packing boxes to move too!!! These people need to be removed from your life!! Madness! @Jaycey.....remember your own advice....take it easy too....we are all watching out for you.
Oh, and if you are all on the hard stuff now....Gin & Tonic please x

A bit of a teary afternoon as I packed up all of Jerry's food and toys. I found a cat rescue place and I will donate most of the food - hopefully this weekend. Still can't believe he is gone.

On the positive side I am really seeing the benefits of all the icing. My mobility is significantly better today - and I have very little swelling. Still icing though - mantras and all. Ditched the TEDs as well!

Tomorrow is another day!

Hi @Jaycey - very sad about Jerry. I'm sure the rescue place can put to use the food, etc. There are way too many homeless kitty cats out there. Glad to hear you are moving about better.

Let the tears flow, it will help with emotional and physical healing. Such a lot for your heart to process (insert friendhug here). We have buried cats/ashes with their favorite stuff-- one a brush, another a blankie, another's ashes rubbed into the planks of the deck he lounged on, two inseparable ones together... I am comforted by these memories.

I tell you, I iced probably 20 hrs a day for two weeks, and 12-16 for the next two. Cod not have lived without it!

There is a IRL batch of triple chocolate brownies in my oven at this moment. Do brownies go with g&t??

@Jaycey so sorry about your Jerry. I've had cats all my life. I lost my best ever boy aged 19 in 2011, and even though we had a couple of others at the time, the gap he left was sooooo big that we went and got two little homeless rescue boys about two weeks later. It turned out to be the best thing we could ever have done as they cheered us up so much and they so much needed our love and care. As I write one is on my lap and one on the chair next to me. Just a thought, there are so many out there that so badly need your love and they can help heal a broken heart

So sorry, @Jaycey, that you have to deal with such sadness at a point where your focus should be on your recovery. It's so tough to lose a beloved pet, just an ache that won't go away. I hope you will be encouraged in your ease of movements so soon after your surgery and that perhaps when you've gotten to a better place, physically, you'll be ready to think about another kitty, mentally! I always say that my first dog, Katie, taught me how to love unconditionally and really paved the way for me to be able to love another dog as much.
