Hi @Joey D,

Wow! Your progress is fantastic! You sound really positive and encouraged. It's a great feeling to be able to do those things again. I'm at four weeks, and I also had the anterior approach. I just started very light weights today. I wanted to go back sooner, but my surgeon's asst. told me to wait. How is that going for you? I'm interested to see how my body responds. I used the lightest setting on the machines, and did less reps than I normally do.

At three weeks I had some pain in the early morning hours, too. It seems like it's faded now. I'm also able to sleep on my sides and stomach again. What a relief! I'm impressed that you mowed your lawn! Keep up the great work...

Hi @Hip Hip Hooray! Thanks, I am!
Aside from treadmill walking I am only training upper body right now and training light as well. Being off training for about a month, I feel like I'm starting off all over again, but that's ok. I do no exercises where I need to stand, just seated or bench, plenty of time for the rest of the body later, don't want to make a mistake.
Dr. Called today and I moved my appt up to Sept 30 from Oct 7. I am bored out of my mind and was planning on returning to work on Oct 1st. I'm sure it will be ok as I am a financial professional, so only desk duty.

Still pretty stiff and now seems left side is less numb than the right, which is great. Sleeping ehhh, wake a few times during the night trying to get comfortable. That will get better soon

Yeah I was proud of the lawn as well. I thought I would pay the price in pain, but nothing, whew...

Have a great day, stay positive and keep training! Remember, a body in motion stays in motion!

It sounds like what you're doing is really working. Glad to hear you didn't have any pain after mowing the lawn. It feels good to be training again, doesn't it? I can see and feel a difference already. There's something about muscle definition that really builds confidence.

That's good news that you were able to move up your doctor's appt. I think he's going to be very impressed. Sometimes I wonder if having bilateral surgery is easier for certain body types. (assuming it goes well.) I know @AndyH99 mentioned that he thinks so, and I agree. Maybe it will become a trend...(although it's not for everybody.)

It sounds like your return to work will be smooth and doable. That's great news. Many people have a lot of stress over that. Your situation sounds healthy and balanced.

HI @Joey D
You are progressing so well! Do you have much swelling?
Will you be able to work from home in the beginning?
Congrats on your successful surgery!

Thank you @CricketHip, thankfully most of my swelling is gone. Feet and ankles returned to normal on day 20. My quads are slightly swollen, but usually later in the afternoon, due to being on my feet; barely noticeable.

The incision marks, each a little over 3 inches long, are healing nicely and I assume any scarring will look more or less like a pencil line once fully healed; the PA is taking credit for those! I also have some slight swelling below each of the incisions with continued numbness.

I can work from home but am more productive at the office and would rather be there with my team. Besides, going back to work I'll actually be on my feet less than I am right now, so probably a good transition.

Funny, Last night I was at my sons high school Back-to-school night, meeting his teachers and spending about 7 mins in each class. I have to tell you I really put my legs to the supreme test, walking to each of his classes amongst crowded hallways, up and down stairways and only minimal time to get to each class. That was a real challenge and I thought I would be in pain and not sleep well after that, but was pleasantly surprised. The strength is coming back!

Hope you are feeling well!
Joe

JoeyD.. you are having such a good recovery! Thank you for the information about the incisions/scars. You are almost to the 4 week mark with bilateral! Your school visit sounds pretty brutal.. did you have a cane with you?

OMG!! @Joey D, your body must be super good at healing!! My son's high school Back-To-School night was this past week, too, and I didn't go-my husband did (I didn't want to be hobbling around with crutches or a walker in a crowd). Keep up the good work, I am now reporting to my Coumadin nurses about your progress, they are amazed, too!! Thanks for keeping me motivated, I better go for a walk today!
