LOL - Apr 30 was only 2 weeks ago. Look how far you've come! Your comment about itching - that's a good thing. Itching is the best indication that your incision is healing nicely. Way to go!

I have been trying to eat lots of protein in the form of meat. I love my vege's to. I do take multi vitamins and wonder if other supplements could be beneficial to bone health. B6? Calcium? Hmmm!
I'll tag @Poppet , our resident expert on nutrition for comment. Sounds like you are doing very well.

To anyone reading this, Stan's recovery is his alone. Please don't compare your recovery to any other recovery. We are all different and your situation pre-op can impact your length of recovery.

Week 4 Post-Op
Probably the biggest event for me since my 2 week update is that I returned to work full time on day 19. Walking on just my own two feet. My job requires me to stand and walk pretty constant. So on my breaks I sit and relax.

On days that I work I try not to do as much exercise on my own time. But have increased my long walk now to 3 miles. And stationary bike to 11 miles.

Still take advantage of the LaZeBoy and ice after the long days. Sleeping seems to be getting better. Even rolled over on surgery side. Incision wasn't very comfortable though.

For a while my surgery side felt taller then other side but don't notice that now. Before surgery my whole surgery side was slouching so bad. I had knee pain on opposite side also I think from all the limping. But that had gone away post op. Then today feel it again. Hmm! I'm still having to use my sockaid and have someone tie surgery side shoe. Was hopeing to be able to reach it by now.

Get to see Doc in another week! Looking forward to more restriction being lifted.

Let me just say that I'm thrilled with my progress but that we all should not compare each other's recoveries. I have been very fit my whole life and was still in pretty good shape heading into surgery. I wish the best for all of my BS Hippie team mates! Be Positive and look to the future!

Hi @Stan H - I do apologise, I did not receive Jaycey's tag to me. I am thrilled you are doing so well. You might like to check out these articles :)

The following is a link to an article which provides some approximate timeframes around the healing phases and processes and the relevant nutritional information for each phase.

Nutritional advice for pre op and recovery

You're doing great, Stan! :)
Hopefully being on your feet all day isn't over-tiring (however fit you may have been pre-op).

Let's hope you get your restrictions lifted officially.... it looks like you won't have many left lol.

Well it has been over 3 months since I went under the knife and who knows whatever power tools.
Even though I still have moments where I'm quite aware that I have a unnatural hip, the other 90 % of the time I have almost forgot the same.
I have been working full time on my feet since about week 2. Exercising in the form of walking/hiking as much as 10 miles. Road cycling and Mt. biking some rather mega climb trails as far as 40 miles. And even started running again (slow and short). I made a statement on Facebook that I wouldn't shave until I could run 3 miles. And finally did that last Wednesday. I really hated that beard! I couldn't be more thrilled about this journey that I've experienced. Oh to be active again!
I hope that all BS hippies continue to heal and forget about their prothesis and get on with their lives.

update, @Stan H! So pleased that you are able to do so much and are back to enjoying your "normal" life. And a big thumbs up for shedding the beard. Won't be too much longer and you'll find that days and weeks will go by without your thinking about your man made hip!

Take care and keep us updated. We care.

Just amazing, you live up to your thread title!
Fabulous Stan! You should be an advertisement

@Stan H , I was really hoping to see you post an update as you know I hope to be running again one day also.
Very happy to see your progress and I know you must be thrilled to be running again!!

You can do it Chessie...
I started super slow and short. Ran the straights and walked the curves on a track. 1/2 mile the first time total running. The 3 miles was on a soft flat trail.
I'm not going to do much running but occasionally join a 5k. I have been cycling a bunch.
