I think you're doing a good job of testing the waters and paying attention to what your body is telling you at each step. You're going to do just fine!
I've noticed since surgery...the pain in my knee is nothing like I had before!!! I had so many bone spurs...and bone on bone...and sometimes the spurs would break off and it would lock up and I couldn't move it. NONE of that kind of pain since surgery!!!
It's nice to meet you. I'm so pleased to read about the success of your knee operation. you are being very sensible about your approach to returning to work, although probably a bit early but circumstances are what they are.
My only advice is to suggest you keep taking the ice packs to work and elevate when you can, not forgetting to take regular breaks, eg little walks around the office so that you don't set. You are very early on in your recovery still and you are going to feel very wiped out. That's to be expected. Your body is still healing itself and having to cope with other demands on you mentally as well as physically.
Recovery is as individual and as unique as we all are from one another. No two are ever the same. I learnt long ago to stop comparing myself with others. I used to beat myself up mentally because of this. However, unbeknown to me I had a problem with my TKR. It remained bent and would not straighten at all. Once I had the revision then finally I started to recover. Now I'm on the list for the other one. It's rotten all through with arthritis and also bone in bone at the back of the joint which is not pleasant.
Just remember that your recovery is individual to you. You know how you are feeling but my advice is please, be careful. It is very early.
Well done to you and good luck. I enjoyed reading your posts x
