@hipster4-you are such an inspiration. So happy that you are doing so well. You have given me hope that once I get my new hip on March 8th, I will be able to get back to riding my bike. Thank you for sharing your story. Good luck to you. :wowspring:

@hipster4 that's awesome your doing well considering being on your feet. I think if I was on my feet I'd be but more sooky about my aches and pains. Keep up the awesome recovery

Well March 7th will be 3 months for me, I have been doing very well, I don't see the OS till March 23rd, but that is fine, Recovery has been great so far, Back to work walking very well, I can finally put my socks on and I also cut my toe nails yesterday, Such little things in life that were impossible to do are coming back slowly but surely. My job is on my feet so I must say that after 4-5 hours I still get tired and get little aches in my legs, [both legs} around the back and side of my knees, Doc said its normal and will go away, It does get better everyday, I am still taking some extra strength tylenol maybe around 4 a day while I am working, On my days off I really don't need any meds as I feel pretty good, I was thinking after seeing my doc on the 23rd if he gives me the ok I can start going back to the gym as I feel I need to build some muscle back up in both my legs, also would like to start golfing again, I still take my cane with me everywhere I go but don't use it unless I start to get tired and a little limp comes back, mostly it sits in the car, I am actually forgetting it and then end up trying to find where the heck I left it. I still rest very well, eat well, lots of protein, lots of water, I am happy with my outcome so far and I am pretty sure that the next 3 months will be even better and easier than the first 3, I can see the muscles coming back in my legs as I am on my feet walking around all day at work going up and down stairs moving around rapidly. It feels good but my legs are still weak, example after I go up and down stairs for a while, My legs while coming down the stairs will shake a bit, It reminds me of when I ride a bike at the gym for an hour and then get off, rubber legs, Like it said it gets better everyday and I am not worried about it but need some muscle build up.The doc did tell me no weights for 3 months so hopefully after I see him March 23rd perhaps he will tell me its ok now to start doing some weights, I love ice skating and roller blading.Played lots of hockey in my Canadian life so hopefully I can do some of that to also help build the muscles back up, all in all so far so good looking forward to my first summer in a while where I can actually have some fun again.

Well This is my 6 month update - Just wow is all I can say! Golfing again 3 times a week. Racing my car again once a week. It's a new life all over again - pain free, feeling good about myself, and a much better social life because I am going out again.

As far as hip pain goes, I do not feel anything 100% pain free. I do get some pain in my lower back (left side)- and down the thigh of my non operated leg. Doc said that I will be getting some pain around other areas of my body for about a year, reason being is that the body has to realign. Remember he told me that you were walking with a limp for 4-5 years and things have shifted. I must say that it is getting better as time goes by.

I must say that it was not an easy journey, the first six weeks minimum weight bearing was hard on a walker. But I am glad I followed my Doc's instruction, even though I felt good after 3 weeks, I continued to use the walker, relax rest and follow instructions. At 12 weeks I had 90% flexibility back, I still however feel that there is more improvement needed. Muscle, it takes some time to build muscle again without overdoing it.

I am being a little bit cautious still and not really trying anything crazy. I did try doing a little spring run at about 4 months and was not comfortable doing that yet. Tried again after about 6 months and it's much better. But still not 100%. I do not expect miracles from the surgery, however I am a new person - being active again, having fun, walking, golfing but most of all my social life has been just way to much fun the last couple of months.

What a wonderful update. So happy that you are enjoying life again. Like you, I am out on the course at least 2-3 times a week, weather permitting. In fact, it was such a beautiful day today, I played an extra nine. I am still cautious as well...still don't cross the legs or sleep without a pillow between my legs. But, otherwise, life is good. Continue doing what you're doing, and in another 6 months, you'll rarely think about your bionic parts. I also found the more I walk and stretch my leg muscles, the less they bother me. It will all fade into a distant memory. Have fun on the course and track!!!!

Thanks for a great report! I love hearing good news!
