Hi @Mimi2u I just thought I'd pop across and see how you are getting on. I noticed you were now following me and wanted to welcome you. You are most welcome to pop into my thread and post any time you want. I look forward to hearing from you. Love Nana moon 27 x
Hi @Nana moon 27, You caught me! I must admit to being more of a lurker than I thought I'd be on this site. I am progressing pretty well, so haven't had any questions that haven't been answered by reading others posts. I decided to follow you because I am concerned about how you will do after your setback. I hope that you are able to ice and elevate and take your pain meds and soon your knee will be back to where it was. So far I haven't had any setbacks, but I am such a klutz that I live in fear of falling down and injuring my new knee! I am 6 weeks post op now and my bend is 104 as of today at PT and I am -3 on extension. Considering I only had about 90 bend before the surgery, I am delighted. I am still taking 3 or 4 Oxy a day, and trying to cut back, but everytime I try to, I end up playing catch up with pain again. I want to be able to drive myself to PT soon, so I'm going to have to try to cut back to maybe one in the morning and one at night pretty soon. I have OA and RA and have been having a flare up of my RA which has taken away my energy lately. If it would just warm up here in Minnesota, I think my RA would calm down again. Being off my RA meds for a month has me playing catch up with getting it back under control too. Anyway, I'll be checking on your progress and hope to hear you are doing better very soon.
Also, if @Josephine were to read this, could you maybe change my title of my posts to "6 weeks post op and doing well"?
Take care of yourself with the RA flareup. Be sure to get your rest. Naps are good.
It may take you a bit longer to reduce pain meds than you'd like with both the RA and recovery going on. It may be inconvenient since I know you want to drive, but like you said when you cut back too soon you wind up chasing the pain. Unfortunately it's trial and error to figure out when it's ok to cut back.
Thanks @kneeperFA. I have no choice but to take care of myself because of the fatigue caused by the RA. However, I really need to be able to drive soon, so I will be doing my best to cut back gradually.
