TKR 5 Weeks Post TKR

Oh yes, do be careful. Would a cane or walking stick help?
I couldn’t even use a cane when going for PT as my PT person said I was too uncoordinated . Devices won’t help on slippery moss. My cousin who has zero ortho issues slipped on moss just coming out her gated area !! So everyone comes to my house lol !

I still don’t understand how I managed the walk in my youth with clunky Candies high heeled wood sandals !
Haha... Candie's! I had a few pair of those also back in the day. At that age, slipping can be a little funny, even though embarrassing. As we age its a potential fracture surgery and rehab. That's where balance and strength training can benefit us, although I'd still avoid the slippery moss. Enjoy the rest of your time in Italy, ExRunner!

Well my MRI shows a tear in my labrum hence the hip pain!! Plus medial and minimus gluteal tendinosis! Saw pain management ortho and got hip injected for pain which is a bit better but surgery is only way to repair ! Will wait !!As far as butt pain I have a new PT who believes trauma from my overdoing previous PT person who believed in the “No Pain no Gain” mantra caused the problems. I can pinpoint when it happened on the leg press at 23kg/ 50 lbs . If PT does not work then PRP infusion into my butt or TenJet!
My friends think I should tell my previous PT person the damage he caused by not listening to me his patient!! If the PT is so painful stabbing like don’t do it!!!

So sorry this happened to you. I do believe you should give that feedback, but not to your PT. It needs to go to the manager of the therapy clinic where the PT works. That will likely get a better result if you present your case well with backup from the other medical staff you’ve seen.

So sorry to read this ExRunner,
This is definitely a cautionary tale to remind others that if PT is pushing you to pain...STOP.
Please keep us posted and know that we're here for support always.
Wishing you lots of comfort. :console2:

Oh no, this is awful! I pray that gentle PT works and that you don't have to have surgery.

While labral tears of the hip don't generally heal by themselves due to poor blood supply. They dont always require surgery and the pain can resolve by itself. My hip MRI prior to my knee replacement in 2022 showed a severely frayed and degenerate labrum.
With the straightening of my leg by the PKR- presumably the pressure was taken off my hip, because I have had no pain there since. Although I get odd twinges in the other hip.

Hello ExRunner,
Stopping by to say Hi and see how it's going for you these days. We haven't heard from you in a couple months and want to remind you we're here for support if you need us. We'd love to read a progress report when you have time to share one. Until then, all the best!
