@oh2sew those surgeons and their "the x-ray looks good so everything must be fine" attitude ticks me off. Just thinking about it brought back a ton of memories.
Many would tell you nine weeks is too soon, you're still healing, cut back on activity, but I felt almost immediately that something was wrong. It is hard to describe but the pain was not a healing pain. It was my body telling me something wasn't right and no one knew that with every movement my iliopsoas was being shredded by a bone spure.....that didn't show on an x-ray. I know that my surgeon did what he thought was right by going through the steps of rest, PT, try rest again, etc. but a lot of time and money was wasted. If I were you I'd get a second opinion if you're not seeing progress. After I had my other hip replaced the difference was incredible. I had regular, noticeable progress even though I was still compensating for the first surgery.
Today I rode my bike for 21 miles, far from my usual 60, but I'm getting there. Don't give up!
