TKR 2nd TKR May 22, 2018

We have rest areas that we stop at normally, and there's plenty more just in case! I would be 1 of 4 potential drivers, so if it gets too bad, I'll tap out. I carry my tylenol with me always and my mom has ibuprofen, so I should be ok. Thankfully mom has a van, so if I need to climb in the back and sit with ice, that can happen!

Great! I can see you're well-prepared.

I hope you pick lots of lovely cherries.

Thanks! We've been visiting the same orchard for years, so we've found lots of fun places to stop if we need to. They're sooooo yummy and even more so when they're fresh!

26 1/2 pounds of cherries!! And at one point I was up on a ladder to get to the ones at the top!! No need to stop more than usual but I'm planning to ice my knee as soon as we get unpacked, just in case.

Well done! I'm glad your knee was up to the task, and it's earned a day off now.

The thought of those cherries makes my mouth water.

So good!! We MAY have gotten a little carried away with the cherries, but I only eat them off the tree!!

It has been a while since I've updated. Mainly because I didn't feel safe with posting about my success in this space. I am almost 2 years out from my 2nd knee replacement. In October I found a gym that I absolutely LOVE!! There's 0 gym machines except weight benches but I've never seen anyone use them as weight benches. Ha!! The gym has training times where you walk in and your trainer leads you through a series of exercises. They adapt for whatever reason you need. They also have power hour which is aerobics meets weights meets complete chaos. Again, they show you ways to adapt if necessary. I can do about 85-90% of the jumping etc. And having so much fun. AND I just did 192 actual jumping jacks, not modified ones!! All which wouldn't have been possible had I 1. Not found a dr willing to do knee replacements in my 40s. And 2. Not done the therapy to get that strength back. The 1 picture is me just before my surgery (I'm holding one of my preschoolers so that's why it's not a full picture). The 2nd is yesterday at the gym. Down 21 pounds and 12" from my chest, waist, and hips. You've had the gift of a knee replacement. Now go LIVE your life!! I will never used replaced knees as an excuse to do something (except kneeling. Ha!) ever again!!

Congrats on your really good outcome and that weight loss! Hearing things like this make us all look forward to the end of the recovery and a new, more active life.

What a fabulous report Katlyw! You should never be hesitant about posting your successes here - that is what provides so much encouragement to others. Doin' good! Keep it up. I am envious … it hadn't even occurred to me to try jumping jacks - I'm inspired! :dancy:

Thank you @NightQuilter. There was some drama after my posts earlier in this thread. And quite discouraging when I tried to post about my successes in recovery and therapy. Feel free to g ok back and read them. Anywho, the jumping jacks were part of the monthly challenge. 16 at a time and if I needed to modify at any time, I could have. But i was able to do them ALL!! Except now my trainers know I can do them Burpees will probably be next. Ha!!

Congratulations!

It's good to hear you're doing so well.
