You ramble all you need to sweetie. You have been and are going thru so much. Misery loves company as they say, and I sure am miserable enough to be able to understand your delimma. Those that can't never will. SO what!

We are here. God knows you guys have sure been there and are still here for me! That's what BoneSmart is all about! Just think, now you'll have friends on Hips and the Knees side! twice the support!

Families mean well, but I think it makes them feel helpless too, so if YOU don't think or worry about it, then they don't worry so much about you. make sense? The old D E N I A L! Everybody in your family just wants you to be well. They feel helpless, I'm sure.

You'll get thru this. You are strong and healthy and now you are half way there! Good luck Julie. Better days are comin'!

Thanks Renate and Janet! I know it's hard for family ever to know what to say or how to say things. Sometimes I really don't think they do know about the pain or they simply think, yeah right it can't hurt that bad. Live in our shoes right? Janet I know you know a LOT about pain.

I just went to Macy's and Lowes and getting in and out of car and walking in those stores was enough. My mom and sister are still on me to make the appointment with Hematologist to see if I can get answers about this AVN. Will call next week and at least ask if it's something the doc would see me about.

Everyone have a great Saturday! And yes Janet I know I have the support right here and soon will become a part of the knee group and meet even more people!!

Julie, I am very sorry and understand your misery. It's difficult for 'nomal' people to understand your dilemma. They think you get new hips, rest for a few weeks, and off you go. That's what joint replacement is all about. Nobody really talks about a longer recovery except here on bonesmart. I thought I was so well informed, and for me recovery was about the ability to walk normal again, didn't really think about back, muscle, tendon issues etc. And you had 2 surgeries. That took a lot out of you, and on top of that you are faced with 2 knee surgeries. My heart goes out to you. Remember, there a lots of people here who feel for you, and you can vent.

I totally agree with Renate

One girl in the office suggested to me that my 7 weeks off work following my first hip was an extended holiday and I was about to take another one!

I was fuming but decided it was pointless to explain.

Julie, vent whenever you need to - i think that is the therapy of this site! The beauty of this is that everyone on here knows what you've been through and everyone can relate in their own way. You will get through this. :doggieshmooze:

Julie,

I've said this on here before - while we are healing and battling with recovery other people - employers, family, friends, loved ones - move on. You (One) stops being the focus of attention. It's only right and proper that happens but that is the beauty of this place. Others can empathise and know what you're going through.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

I woke at 1:00 and didn't get back to sleep till 4:00 and up at 7:00. My boyfriend has to leave to day to travel to D.C. for work this week. Sometimes it's a wonderful thing, as I am home alone and do as I please.

Well then, i hope you are doing something that you enjoy! From your post, that may just be laying around and catching up on sleep

I hope you have a great day. I saw my brother off at 4 am this morning. No more company in my house and i am feeling tired and lazy. Good day to curl up with a book or watch a dvd - how about you, julie?

Well I did the laundry, stripped the bed, went through my closet and got rid of things I haven't worn forever and then to grocery and now on the couch I am ....... and will be...... for remainder of day. Yep, maybe a few shows since the weather isn't nice out and raining on and off. Perfect day for that. Maybe even a nap since I was up a lot of the night. :sleepz:

Hi Julie

Hoping you're having a better time of it soon :cry4:

Hi Julie

Hoping you're having a better time of it soon :cry4:

Thanks Tanny!!

Not really though. The knees are hurting pretty bad. I don't know if I'll make it till after the first of the year. I just don't want to go through more surgeries this year when I still don't feel healed enough from my hips. I do think though one reason I'm not progressing much anymore with the hips is because the knees are getting so bad. How can I get strong with the hips when the knees are like this, right?

I'm glad you have a picture posted finally so we feel like we know you more. :friends: I know you are struggling as well and wish the best for you.

Gosh Julie can I ever relate! I am so tired of hurting now, that I am ready to have everything done! The only thing not hurting (she says with fingers and toes crossed!) is my left hip. Both knees are awful now since summer and my right hip is really bad again.

This is getting worse for me, not better. I knew from the start that this revision was NOT successful and the OS kept telling me everything was "FINE". RIGHT!

Hang in there sweetie. Hopefully you can hold on until the hips settle down. How frustrating, I know. Little did I think my knees would start as I NEVER have had a problem with them.

I don't know what else to say except come here to vent as often as you need to. We're here, and we understand :wink1:!

Thanks Janet,

It sure is frustrating isn't it? I know you know more than anyone with all you are dealing with. I go to work and try to put on the "no pain" face and do my job and just hate sitting all day. It's hard to get up as often as I should be when I have so much that I do sitting at a computer.

Here it is a weekend starting and don't feel like doing things. We have a art/craft festival on the island tomorrow to go and walk around at (loads of fun walking around) and Sunday I'm supposed to go finally to the Bucs game since I haven't been able to go to a game yet this year. I just feel like a "party pooper" all the time. :rolleyespink:

Julie, you should feel in the least bit guilty about needing to rest. You are still recovering from TWO major surgeries and are already back at work. Of course you are tired! Rest when you can. There will be other games and activities.

Going to go to an arts and crafts festival out at Anna Maria Island later on and walk around for a bit. Doing that will be enough for one day but it's great weather out and it's a nice time. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

Hope you had a great day today - you deserve it!

Well I made it through the weekend with walking around at the craft show and then going to the football game the next day. I used a brace for my left knee on Saturday and then forgot to take it for the game on Sunday.

It was a long day Sunday but on Monday I didn't feel awful, just stiff and sore. My knees are about the same, ache always and one will hurt more one day and then the other one the next day.

The problem I'm still having with my left hip is that the back of the leg (hamstrings I guess) just is so tight and I know my legs need some good stretching but I find it so hard. Any good suggestions for stretching of the legs to help get them more limber?

I got down on the ground the other day to try to reorganize a kitchen cabinet and boy was that a tough one. It was first of all very hard to get to the floor unlike when I try it in living room using the couch to help me down. Then I had to reach way into the cabinet and that was hard because I found out, nope I can't just move my legs in any manner that I would like to !! :hissyfit: Can't of course sit cross legged, hard to put then bent at knees to the side so almost had to sit with them straight out to organize things. Then I had the process of getting back up. Oh boy.

Well that's where things are at right now and just plugging away at work everyday. I had complete blood work done yesterday for my work physical next Friday. I'll be interested to see the report then.
