2018 August Hot Shots - Are you having hip surgery in August?

@Small1014 - First I should say that I didn't do any other interventions before scheduling the THR. I was out of commission with a foot injury/surgery in the fall of 2017 - during which, I had 4 pretty hard falls. What I thought was an injury from those falls was actually end-stage Osteo-Arthritis, the pieces kind of fell into place from the previous years. That being said, I think I can say now that I am at week 8 post-op that all went pretty well. It definitely was a LOT slower recovery than what I had anticipated. The OS and staff kept saying I was going to do "Great and be up on my feet in no time flat" so I had the bar set pretty darned high. At week 2 (when I went to see PT), I was pretty down on myself, pretty sure I was doing something wrong because I wasn't farther along in my recovery. He reassured me that I was where I should be at that point. Still . . . I had very high expectations and was pretty down about it. Now that I am at this stage, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope that helps you out somewhat. I'm living in surreal land right now as I go through post-op and also pre-op for the other side. I really didn't want to be laid up all summer but I don't want to stretch this out any further either.

I have brought forward this month's list so that you can easily see who your surgical buddies are.

Welcome to our latest and all August Hot Shots!

I'm no longer scheduled for my right total hip replacement on August 6, 2018. I went in for my pre-op and when I mentioned the pain I was having in my left hip, they did an x-ray and I have a greater trochanteric fracture. Though a CT Scan shows some early (slight) healing started, it has been 12 weeks since the THR so they are repairing said fracture this coming Wednesday, August 1.

Ok. I'm new to the forum, but..... I will be the first on to get on the otherside of this surgery in August.

My Surgery Date is 8/1/2018 by Dr. Wayne Luchetti of Coordinated Heath Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. So i'm up in 2 days for a THR on my right side. This will be my first!

Thanks,
Russ
