Bilateral THR “Oh you brave soul!”<

Too much too soon.
Your leg isnt weak...it's traumatized/ injured.
This will probably happen again as I progress through PT/OT, hopefully with less & less severity...
Probably will..and could lessen or could cause chronic tendinitis that will take much more time to resolve.
Please take some time off from PT.
It is hindering your healing process in my opinion.

Hey @mannyalfa thanks for your post-op posts. It’s good to hear what others have experienced. I’m going a week Monday for my “BI”. Thanks again, your posts have and will help me.

You sound like you are doing really well! Will be following your recovery!
Like the tip about PJ's at night, clothes during the day, sticking to one's normal hygiene routine etc. as best as possible while in hospital.
Your PT sounds a bit OTT...be careful!
Have a healing weekend :) and hope you are going home soon!

Got a much-needed day off. Dressings changed.

Just reflecting on everything and 'taking it all in'

Sleeping a lot. My appetite is ravenous today!

Pain is about 2-3. All-in-all it's been a day to rest and heal...

You are doing just fine.
Hang in there...it is all temporary recovery mess.:console2:

Slept most of yesterday, swelling has gone down significantly and the knots in my thighs are definitely untying themselves. Dressings changed, incisions healing nicely, but itch!

Very light stretching today, during which the staff psych was making her rounds for some light conversation. I assume that because I am back in my room and not tranquillized that it went well (!)

Restless today, was allowed to explore the facility by wheelchair-my curiosity and efforts were rewarded when I FOUND THE CAPPUCCINO MACHINE!!

I’m ready to begin a new week and new phase of recovery tomorrow.....

Yay for Cappuccino!
It sounds like you are doing well.
Ten days out tomorrow and the beginning of a new week.
I hope it's a great one!

:loll:And no restraints!
Definitely a good sign.
Hope today is a good day...onward:egypdance:

Today was ‘show & tell’ demonstrated that I could do ‘the basics’ of caring for myself. Mastered the stairs (w/handrails) I can even lead with my ‘bad’ leg! Used the car simulator for getting in and out.

Walked 200 ft using only the walkway handrail, I’m going to attempt using a cane tomorrow.

I’m on 2 Tylenol twice a day. I don’t ice my thighs anymore but I do keep my feet elevated because they tend to swell after a PT session.

No pain at this point, just stiffness.

I really put effort into Therapy Sessions, and I’m pretty wiped-out by the end of the day.

According to the hospital progress report, I’m doing extremely well! I go to outpatient PT/OT in two days.

Surgery was a week and a half ago.

It’s the little things that stick with you: since my very first PT session, every time I stand from a chair I still think to myself ‘nose over toes....’ and from now on probably always will!

Glad to hear you are doing well.
I think that ICE may help tremendously still...I loved icing it up, especially after PT.
Are you still in hospital? I didn't catch that.
If so, good for going home soon!
Hope today is a Good Day

Please don't give up on ice at less than two weeks post op.
You will benefit from it for weeks to come. Possibly even months.
Sounds like you're suffering some Energy Drain also. Completely normal.
Check out the Recovery Guidelines if you haven't yet.
It took me a couple weeks to absorb the content. I'd start, stop, start, stop. Maddening!
Hope you're enjoying the day!
@mannyalfa

Surgery + 12 days.... Walked 75 yds with a quad-cane this morning!! Slight thigh-twinges, stiffness, and muscles that need strength & endurance. On Tylenol but still taking anti- coagulant (Lovenox) shots: tomorrow I learn how to give them to myself (!) before I'm discharged.

Outpatient PT is the next phase of the adventure.

Even if it's only a few steps, I want to walk unaided by the end of next week!!!

You will do that I'm guessing!
Ugh on the shots...but all temporary!
Have a good evening.
If you say you are sleeping all night I'm going to be super jealous...:skep:

Leaving in-patient rehab today: kind of a light celebratory last-day-of-school feel (ironically, school starts today in South Florida)

Still minor ‘twinges’ in the quads, incisions itch like gangbusters.

Today I finished off at ‘Mobility Park’, a mini urban ‘obstacle course’ with steps, brick walkways, ramps, curbs and a gravel path.

Then my ‘victory-lap’ and my goal here: I walked 300 feet with a single-point cane. My physical performance today is better than when I went into surgery 13 days ago!

The whole experience here has been great! From my Surgeon to my Physical Therapist, I couldn’t have asked for better!!

Waiting to meet with my case manager to plan next steps.....

There is still work to do, but the future is bright!!

Graduation day....oh Happy Day!
You sound wonderful, excited, hopeful.
You're doing great, keep it up.
Wishing you a fabulous weekend!
@mannyalfa

Patient Transport Ride home: Ah, the outside world! Even a simple ride is a bit bone-jarring: I am NOT ready to drive yet!! It’s a little daunting back outside the safe confines of a hospital where everything is designed for your access....

Just take it s-l-o-w.
It's very early days.
Slow and steady wins the race.
