Here I am 15 months after a LTKR and the only thing that continues to give me issues is this tightness across my lower quad. I understand it has to do with the quad tendon. I surely hope its not permanent.
My right knee, which has mild osteoarthritis, has a bilateral meniscus tear and a...

@Jammy The L5 controls mostly everything from the waist down. Stenosis, or compression, is real and likely the culprit for your weird feelings. In my case, a laminectomy improved the situation considerably.
MichiganGal…not sure when you had your knee surgery but even after a year I have a little stiffness along with the tight band feeling just above the knee. And my kneecap? Feels really weird and I can not kneel on it. But I really think, little by little, my knee will continue to get stronger...
Hey Jammy! Don’t leave please. I really never had a back issue until 3 mos or so after my TKR. You know I had those weird sensations down my leg, through the repaired knee and towards the feet. You said an MRI disclosed narrowing of L5. The L5 controls most nerves from the waist down. A...
Well, a scope proceedure on my knee is off the table att. Seems with age and the extent of osteoarthritis in the joint, a scope proceedure would not last long. So, starting mid May I will have a series of 3 gel injections to replace some of the cushioning I have lost. Each injection is about...
Well, finally I’m back after a tough ‘23 with LTKR in Jan and a laminectomy mid August. My new knee is ok but still a bit stiff, a little sore and having the tight band feeling just above the knee. Since I do have generalized inflamation, I guess I’m okay with the reality that my knee may always...
Checking in with the new year…I know it’s now April? Back surgery went well though I honestly say I still have pre op symptoms but certainly can live with them. No back pain though which is a positive.
But I now have a bilateral meniscus tear of my right knee? Seeing surgeon tomorrow. Maybe a...
Getting close to the one year anniversary of my LTKR. I have my 1 year follow up with surgeons office next month. I still am suffering from a bit of stiffness and much discomfort from the area just up above my knee cap. This tight band feeling. Especially prevalent when getting up from a chair...
Good morning Jaycee! Knee at 9+ months is ok according to my doctor. Still stiff, ROM at 110 and a tight band feeling above fhe kneecap. He did have me get a SedRate blood test which came back high at 33 indicating inflamation throughout my body. Have an appt this am with my back surgeon. Backs...
Appreciate all the comments after my 9 month checkup. After telling my surgeon how stiff my knee is, along with alot of aches and pains all over, he had me do a SedRate blood test which I guess measure inflamation. My test result came back high at a 33 rate which indicates inflamation caused by...
Just had my 9 month checkup on my LTKR. While my knee is strong and allowing me to play pickleball 4-5 times a week, I am a bit surprised that my knee is still stiff and flex is only 110. Not really any pain. Surgeon says I should use a hot compress and then, using a stretch band, work on...
I am now 2 months in from my Aug 14 back surgery! Glad to say everything is great! Pre surgery symptoms are mostly gone. Playing pickleball without any limitations. No pain. Couldn’t be happier! Will post update at 9 months on my TKR.
Jaycey…thanks for the encouragement. At 7 mos I still have a bit of swelling which is probably the cause of the stiffness.
Jammy…I think we are almost on the same schedule. I’m not in enough discomfort for pain meds. My knee is still slightly swollen which probably is the cause of the...
