Hi reading all I can regarding Ankle fusion, it only just occurred to me...
Will I need to wear skirts ? Or will I be able to get trousers over my cast ?.
I'm generally a trousers gal so this might need some thought
HERE WE GO AGAIN...
Good morning,
Its been awhile but I'm back again and gearing up for another operation!! Yay me
This time its my troublesome left ankle is going to be fused. No TAR which I would have preferred but surgeon thinks a fusion is the best option for me.
He discussed a plate...
Hi thought I'd jump back on here with an update. Had my 2nd THR Oct 2024. Can honestly say I don't give it a moments thought now around hip mobility and strength.
The scar still looks quite prominent but I'm hoping it will dade like my 1st one did.
No pain or meds unless its an anti inflammatory...
OMG, think this a bit further on post op wise but I'm definitely struggling with what to wear 4 months down the line.
I'm definitely ready to ditch the loose comfy post op clothes but I'm not the person I was!
Not sure if I'll be her for awhile yet. I still have a slight limp, I still use my...
I'm so glad I'm on this site, medics and physio saying all healing is done but try telling my left hip, buttocks and left knee!!
I'm not doing anything silly.
Work will be abnormal to begin with but I feel like I need to return now.
Hi Bonesmarties
Can't believe its been over 3 months. I'm off work until February, which will be 15 weeks so the same as my first THR in 2019.
I don't feel that this recovery has progressed as well as the first but I know there are still gains and its early days.
My new hip still isn't as...
I will see what the phased return involves, no way can I do a 12 hour nightshift, or an 6-8 hour busy day shift.
I will be sensible, if I need another 2-4 weeks off I will.
I'm getting a bit too relaxed but no point. Some days are better than others. Still feel sore after any type of activity...

11 weeks post op today.
I've been pushing my granddaughter around in her pram (exhausting, but works my abs).
I've also walked my daughter's dog which was great for varying pace.
I'm still quite tender on my scar area. Also my left knee and feet are sore after any activity.
Walk bare...
At a similar mile stone 9 weeks in a few days. I have knee andxankle 'issues' on my new hip side
Had the other hip dobe nearly 5 years ago, so not my first rodeo!
Must faster physical healing this time though still have a limp but my gait is improving.
Took the decision to drop the cane around...
Definitely feeling more positive after physio. She kindly pointed out that she personally doesn't count the first 4 weeks as that's all about tissue& bone healing. So she is now on my nice list!
I thought I did listen to my body but maybe my mind doesn't fully accept these hopefully temporary...
Glad you had a great day Flamigoprint. Finding the new normal and transitioning from a post op person to the new version of us is so weird.
Having lived with physical limitations for so long, lots of meds and bad sleep. I'm terrified now that only further surgery on my knee and ankle with give...
Hi
great to read other members experiences. I'm throwing my very own pity party, thinking nothing will ever improve.
My limp is still very evident as my my knee is stiff and bows inwards then the ankle on that side has a funny angle too.
Not helped when pointed out as if I wasn't aware that...
Hi
My 6 week check got cancelled, due to my surgeon being off sick ( hope he's on the mend).
Went to a shopping centre instead used just the 1 crutch and was fine. Feet felt heavy due to slow pace of browsing in the shops. Very enjoyable seeing all the Christmas decoration.
Rescheduled for...
