Just had my final pre-op consult, and...

Hi Jaycey. I'm dealing with it, never thought of backing out, but it's much easier to deal with, thanks to this board and it's awesome users. I had my pre-surgery eval and labs yesterday, which I'll put up as a new thread today. I'm the kind of person that will mask everything with jokes and...

A month away from total hip replacement and I'm getting cold feet

Hello fellow gimps! It's been a few days since I posted my fears, and I am surprised and very, very appreciative of all the feedback on this forum. I mention it to my doctors and nurses, etc., as it is an excellent resource for anyone going through this. It all is positive, as well. I had my...

A month away from total hip replacement and I'm getting cold feet

Hello fellow gimps! It's been a while since I have spent time on this board, and I am sorry I haven't. It is so cool to see all the positive feedback and support every time I check. It may not be more than words to some, but it is helpful to me. I have still been doing the "maybe I can deal...

    Seeking "buddy" to learn from

I'm nervous, but not backing out. You will second guess living with the pain and immobility the more you think about it. I suggest doing anything you enjoy, or have to do, that will keep your mind occupied and focused on other things. Whenever you do think about it, try to make your first...

Just had my final pre-op consult, and...

I was playing competitive softball, basketball, and my favorite (hockey). I was told that I shouldn't plan on playing any contact or high impact activities...the fun ones. I'm not a pro athlete, but it is/was a HUGE part of who I am.

Just had my final pre-op consult, and...

I am pretty bummed to find out I won't be able to go back to any contact or high impact sports. I can't believe how much this affected me, and I actually started to cry in the office (felt like a bus hit me). It's not that I'm not optimistic, or thankful, but it is/was such a huge part of my...

A month away from total hip replacement and I'm getting cold feet

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies. Nice to know I'm not alone. Although I am only 46, it's been pretty bad for a while now. Over the last two or three years I went from playing multiple sports to not being able to walk, bend over, etc. I have not had a pain free day in years, and I really...

A month away from total hip replacement and I'm getting cold feet

I'm starting to think I can deal with increasing pain and immobility, because I'm worried about it Anyone have any reassuring experiences to share? I really want to be active and pain free.
