    TKR It's Amazing!

I had TKR on February 23, 2015, and it's amazing what I can do now. I "graduated" from PT last week, after going twice a week. I was pedaling on the bike for about two miles in ten minutes time. They had me doing weights, balancing, stretches, etc. A great program. I can now walk up and down the...

    TKR It's Amazing!

It turns out that I have been massaging my scar the wrong way. I was massaging it up and down, when I should have been massaging it side to side, thus stretching it. It is doing much better now.

    TKR It's Amazing!

Thank you, Pumpkin. They are closed now, and won't provide a prescription after hours. However, I have PT first thing in the a.m. and will ask him. I will call the surgeon's office if the pain gets too bad. I just was worried about infection.

    TKR It's Amazing!

Is my scar infected? All of a sudden it burns like crazy! It feels like a really bad burn, and the scar directly over the knee cap has stretched wider and is so red. It is not any more hot to the touch than usual, nor is the surrounding tissue. No other unusual pain, just the real bad burning. I...

    TKR It's Amazing!

Well, tomorrow will be the eleven week mark out of left TKR. Things are going great! I have been going to outpatient PT one to two times per week. While there, I ride the stationary bike a little, use a pulley with small weights, stretch on an incline, and get the kinks worked out by the PT...

Revision TKR I just got my new knee.

For extension, if you have stairs with a railing available, put your heal on the bottom step and stretch away. For flexion, put the front of your foot on the step, and lean forward, bending your knee as far as you can. Sent from my iPhone using BoneSmart Forum

    TKR It's Amazing!

I am now seven weeks out from LTKR and am doing well. I saw my surgeon last week and he said I was making good progress and the X-rays look great. I will be starting outpatient PT next week. The question that I have is this: my primary care physician...

    TKR Well, this is un-fun

Hi Pax, Yes, I'm from Massachusetts and can't wait to move to Florida next year when I turn sixty. Don't forget to cover your scar and use lots of sunscreen, to protect the sensitive skin in that area. Enjoy the warmth! Sent from my iPhone...

    TKR It's Amazing!

Woo Hoo! I am happy to say that I am six weeks out from Left TKR, and have been cleared from home PT. My ROM is 100 Degrees, with a -2 Degree on the extension. I see my surgeon for the post-op on Thursday. I am walking with a cane, managing the stairs well, and even driving a little. My energy...

    TKR left knee replacement recovery

Wow! Every time I check out this page, I learn something new. I have been attempting to cut down on the Percoset lately, and have these cold sweats episodes at night. Then I'm cold all day, then hot. I thought my thermostat was stuck from the surgery, as I was not running a fever. Now I see that...

    TKR cracking and popping

It's funny, as I reflect years back, I think my issue all started with what was described as a "half of a torn cartilage." The doctor at that time, who was incredibly rude, told me to just basically suck it up. It progressed over the years to arthritis, shots, and eventually bone on bone and...

    TKR cracking and popping

I am amused reading some of these descriptions of surgeons' bedside manner, or lack thereof. After a tough day of overextending myself, I am trying to relax, and this site always helps. I went to my surgeon on the recommendation of someone...

    TKR It's Amazing!

I am five weeks and a few days out of left TKR and have been walking with a cane for three days. I actually feel more stable with the cane; it feels like my operated leg is getting stronger. I took myself out on close by car rides two days in a row. Yes, I drove myself. I have been taking only...

    TKR It's Amazing!

Five weeks out from Left TKR today. PT person came early, but I was already, sponge bathed and dressed with socks and sneakers on. I requested that she bring me out to my car and show me the best way to get in and out(also wanted to see if it would start, since it's been sitting there for five...
