THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

And yes, I know there are people way worse off than me and people doing way better than me. As per usual, my problems fall through the cracks of nobody giving a darn because I’m not on the “interesting” end of either spectrum. Yeah. I think this will be my last post. I would like to thank those...

THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

I keep wondering if I’ve damaged something because the pain isn’t getting better. I’ve gone back to one crutch, and am contemplating two. Pain has spread back into my rib cage, with groin pain, buttock pain, lower back pain and outer hip pain. This is where I was weeks ago. In going forward, all...

THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

It will be 9 weeks later today that I had my surgery. I’m in a lot of pain today as I think my leg is overworked from using a cane all week. It’s fine when it’s at rest but when you move, wow! Achey, pinchy, stabbies, burnies - the whole gang. That leg must be so weak and worn out.

@djklaugh, kitties do have a knack for finding your sore spots! I’m just glad my two aren’t as big as yours when it comes to that skill!

THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

Well, I was having a couple of good days in a row and I know there’s always a backwards step to come shortly after, but I didn’t think it would happen the way it did. I was awoken this morning to 4 1/2kgs of kitty mass trying to tightrope balance right on my incision scar! That wakes you up in a...

THR New Here- THR 8/22/22- Muscle Atrophy (maybe)

@SweetV, I’m only 8 weeks out and had my knee clunk whilst at the 45min mark of my swim. I’m telling you this as yes, I have knee pain that seems to be attached to hip pain. I’ve been told they twist your knee rather aggressively to dislocate your hip, so it all makes sense and some of us will...

THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

@Sukuma, you’ll find your strength will come along in leaps and bounds once you can get back in the pool, and you’re definitely not alone. Don’t hurt yourself trying to break records - your hip will do what it wants in its own time. I wish I could have forced myself off crutches earlier and...

    THR My Christmas time recovery

@Sdfoxy1, no I had anterior but I’m also battling back problems, too. I’m still having problems with believing in the strength of the new implant when it comes to lifting my leg. For example, when I want to dry the bottom of my leg after a shower. I have to really mentally apply myself to the...

    THR My Christmas time recovery

Hi @Sdfoxy1! I’m glad you’ve updated us. I’m also glad to hear from you as we are very similar in our recovery timelines. Are you still using a walking aide of some sort because it certainly sounds like you need to. I’m still using one. It’s my second day of the walking stick. I’ve accepted the...

    THR Now recovery

@Manabo53, I still find it very difficult to get comfortable in a chair and I’m at 8 weeks. I think you’ll find your back is protesting a lot, as well. There are days I’m well aware of the fact I’m sitting on my implant and was told that’s completely normal. I’m getting a little better each week...

THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

@Sukuma, that’s exactly how I would describe my walking. I stayed on crutches for 6 weeks before going down to one for two weeks. I’m sure you will break my slow records but I’ve learnt this hip just doesn’t want to do things quickly. It’s a good thing it likes being in the pool - which is my...

THR 3 weeks post hip replacement

@Cdj01, I’m at 8 weeks out and have had my operated leg made 20mm longer. My research on it all seems to indicate it can take 3-6 months for you to get used to it, but I’m sure wiser minds than mine will be able to tell you more.

    THR Now recovery

@Manabo53, if it makes you feel better, you are not alone. I have had a 3 level lumbar spinal fusion and had my Left THR done in Dec 2022. I truly hope your road to recovery is easier than mine because mine has been very slow compared to the majority I have read on here. Feel free to ask me...

THR An Opportunity to Enjoy Life Again

@Sukuma, my nurse friend put me on to Bio Oil as being “the” stuff to lessen scarring and even out bumpiness. Obviously, you don’t apply until it’s safe to do so, as @Layla said. Honestly, it’s reduced my skin cancer scars to nothing, and one of those was a monster on my right shoulder at 3-4...

THR Recovery greetings from an Aussie - my journey

@Sukuma, admittedly I am well overdue to have Radiofrequency neurotomy done pretty much everywhere on my back - my SI joints especially. I go and see my pain specialist next week. I never thought I’d be looking forward to having RFN done! And yes, I am very hard on myself. I keep killing myself...
