Thank you! Yes, things are easing, I find movement and especially stretching the best way to minimize pain. Back to mountain biking and just bought a ski pass today!

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

Thanks! Somewhere along the lines I have overdone something. Right knees is painful to walk on when I first get up and after sitting. After a few steps, it does get better.

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

Thanks @Layla! Recovery seems to be going well, the left knee is obviously stronger than the right, but both are progressing. Most of the sensitivity issues on the left have reduced and the numbness that I feel on the right knee seems to improve each day. My flexion on the left knee improved to...

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

Foot numbness is gone, but just like the other, once the bandage came off, the sensitivity of the surgery site increased. I think overall, the recovery is easier because of the other knee in April. That said, I have found myself pushing maybe a little harder than before, knowing (thinking) I had...

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

Was checked out of home pt yesterday…flexion of 112 and extension of zero…this knee surgery is certainly different than the one in April. Different sensations, recovery rate, although it’s only been 1.5 weeks, strengths/weaknesses. Start the real PT on Tuesday.

TKR Meecies musings (questions, comments, maybe some venting here and there too)

I had 2/week at home for two weeks and then started outpatient. While my insurance will pay for as many as needed, the pt told me on my last knee, they generally schedule 2/week for 4-6 weeks….as needed, they can add more or use less depending on patient and progress. I saw my outpatient pt 4...

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

Thanks @Layla! Was in the surgery room by 7:20am and home by 4:00ish. According to surgeon, things went well, and home pt starts tomorrow morning. The one difference between my left partial replacement in April and this one, is the fact that my big toe and bottom of the foot are somewhat numb...

    Total or partial

I had a partial on my left April 9 and my right is being done July 8. A surgeon who had done my previous scopes and injections had recommended a full, even though I have no damage to my lateral side and very minimal knee cap concerns. What I gathered was that fulls are easier (less technical)...

For those who train with kettlebells, at what point did you return to swings or snatches? I have started back with goblet half squats and goblet carries, but not sure about how the hip action and knee lockout of the swings.

PKR Need to decide between PKR and TKR

I had a partial done April 9. While I have some mild degeneration under my knee cap, the medial was bone on bone. My surgeon felt a partial was best, but said he was always prepared to do a full once he got into the surgery ( I obviously had to give permission for the change, if needed), if...

PKR how long was i in bed for???

I had a partial on April 9. The first week was pretty slow for me, and my leg was pretty weak. Lots of naps (since sleeping at night was pretty worthless), Oxy round the clock for the first 2 days, nights only for a day or two and then Tylenol only. By the second week, I was moving better, still...

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

I am not quite 3 weeks out and had my first outpatient pt yesterday. I have been working out at home, doing upper body weight training/trx and doing prescribed leg wpork to improve knee function, cutting the grass and taking the dog for runs (he runs I walk slowly). After yesterdays PT, that...

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

Thanks. Am contemplating eliminating the one nightime oxy, but it does give me some really good sleep! Last pt session had me at 90 degrees and extension of 5, so like all things, a little give and take. I started riding my assault bike yesterday, pedaling backwards, heel on the pedal, and very...

    PKR Mike61's Recovery

What is the best method people have found for weaning off of pain meds? I have been prescribed Oxycodone 5mg every 4 hours, 500,g acetaminophine, and an anti inflammatory (once a day). I have eliminated the oxy during the last two days, and used two during the night (Which helped with sleep and...
