I called my OS this morning, had to leave a message.
I'm surprised at how much ice helps. I have that little ice bag with me constantly, even in bed at night. Now that I can lay on my side it's a bit of ordeal to get the pillow between my knees and the ice bag perched up on my hip. Arranging...
Well I've been away for awhile, the holidays and all. However a complication occurred the day before New Years Eve. My husband had been pleasantly helpful while I was in recovery. Then all of a sudden he got very weak and on his second day he collapsed next to our bed and couldn't get up. I was...
I'm enjoying following your posts. Being gentle with one's self, positive thoughts and visualization are all so helpful in many aspects of life. You express it well while including how medical care is complementary to healing.
I'm two weeks out from my RTHR. Like others have said once that first week is behind you things will improve. Amazingly it seems like each day holds a new surprise...things like realizing the surgical site is uncomfortable but that awful pre-surgery pain is gone. Or perhaps the new hip leg has...
Thanks otisbeagle. I will try Uristat as I didn't know about it.
I'm so pleased with my recovery and thankful that it's going so well. Yesterday I took a walk through our backyard just looking things over enjoying the fresh air. Returning to the house I realized it was the first time in...
So many on the forum have been an inspiration to me I'm trying to give back. Others have written about the ups and downs while in recovery. That information has been very helpful in that I don't get down in the dumps in occasional rough times.
That being said last night was rough. I couldn't...
One week down, heading into week two of recovery. I took one Mobic and one tramadol this morning, nothing since. I'm thankful to be doing well without them now. (I mainly stopped the tramadol due to very unpleasant constipation issues...now resolved.) I also realized I hadn't taken a nap today...
Hi otisbeagle. I bet you would have liked the belt strap. I was using my non-op leg to lift and support the op-leg too. The belt is way easier. And yes, the road to recovery is here now
Good news!!! Today feels like the first day on the actual road to recovery! :happydance:I refer to yesterday as my time-out-for-woe-is-me day. Got that behind me and we're moving on. I'm following a time schedule for my meds and icing religiously. Words of encouragement here are helpful...
Today has been a bit rough. I seem to be a bit more sore today than I was the past two days. However it is not the bothersome pain that was plaguing me prior to surgery. That I'm grateful for!
Thanks Mojo. I was so busy "nesting" prior to surgery, getting household things in order, that I didn't consider what changes needed to be made for when I came home. Minor details but inconvenient .
I'll keep on keeping on....
