    THR Racer Keith - recovery

Wow - almost to my 1 year anniversary and I was reminded because I saw on facebook that an acquaintance's sister was getting a LTHR today. What a year - back to work 2 weeks post-op and have been back to normal (pre-OA) for about the last 4 months. I still get some very mild pain when I overdo...

Another newbie - here's my story

Hi @firstx1017 I too waited until it got so bad I could not really walk more than 15 minutes at a time. I could bike ride for hours and that didn't bother me. When i sat or got into bed, I was also pain free. It go real bad 2 months out when getting up from a chair to walk became very...

    THR Racer Keith - recovery

8 weeks out and doing great. At my 6 week check up Dr said everything is great (great x-ray and incision is clean and pink) and I had no restrictions to follow other than no running (forever - bummer). I was back to work at week 2.5 and it is so nice to now be able to walk around for the job...

    THR Racer Keith - recovery

Now day 12... I keep forgetting where I put my cane so I think I'm about ready to toss it unless I'm out walking in a crowd or on uneven ground. Tylenol 500 mg about 3 times a day for pain relief and I feel I could lower that or come off of it completely. Still doing my Lovenox shots for...

    THR don't fear the pain

Sling shot, I'm 9 days post-op anterior and agree that the pain is easy to manage. I did the Oxy for about the first 3 days and then switched to Tylenol (500 mg about every 6 hours - nothing after 10pm until about 8am). I have had to take pain meds twice in the middle of the night due to...

    THR Racer Keith - recovery

Day 5 (earlier Thur op - so is it Day 4?), Waking now without the walker. Just a cane and I find I need to get up about every 45 min to move as my butt starts to hurt from sitting still in the recliner. Just on 500mg Tylenol 4 times a day but also icing alost all of the time. The ice really...

    THR Racer Keith - recovery

Day 3 and all well so far... Slept well from about 10.30pm to 7.30am with one trip to the head about 2.30. Pain about same and in same locations. Walking and standing feel surprisingly very well. Almost no pain once I'm up and moving. I feel like I could do more but am holding back as I'm...

    THR The other side

I used the stool softer med they gave us after my first #2 was somewhat tough. I won't take it anymore because the last few #2s have been way too loose. I'm sticking to more water and fiber with meals and hope to get more normal movements.

Also - where is your pain? Mine is mostly in hip flexor area even before it popped and then right under the incision abut an inch deep. Didn't really think about it going in and not sure what I expected. Thought it would be biget area and more intense. Will stay on 1 oxycodon 6 hours apart...

    THR Racer Keith - recovery

Day 2. Back home after just under 30 hours. Pain is still very minor and got in some good walking and training by PT staff before departure. Said to use walker for next 2 weeks but cane may be option after 1 week if feeling strong. Had nice breakfast but felt and heard a loud pop from...

    THR Racer Keith - recovery

Had good dinner and got pain meds and took a PM long walk around the ward with walker. Amazing still no pain (asked for meds before longer walk) and my wife is freaked that I no longer have my limp and my legs again feel the same length - Dr prided himself on this with procedure. My bad leg...

2016 August Hot Shots - Are you having hip surgery in August?

Please add me from post #74 - this is my first major surgery and I am usually very stress free but its got me worked up. I'm young and still very active (can't run anymore) and everyone just says I'll do great. Ugh - I just want it over.
