Thanks @Layla for the follow up. Things are going really well. I’m pretty much doing everything I want to do at this point. Putting on my tennis shoes every day is always a challenge, but I finally crossed my leg just a day ago. I have been doing strength 1 - 2 times a week even. I still have...
Hello from 6 weeks! Had my check up yesterday and had to grab a pic of the X-ray. I’m thinking I must be bionic now except I’m not supposed to do high impact activities which seems to negate the bionic-ness
All is going well and I continue to improve and strengthen. Have been completely off...
@sistersinhim I know I’m recovering outside the curve and I’m loving it! Since this is my 3rd time with the same knee and component parts replaced each time (which are longer and more intrusive) I knew exactly what to expect - until I was pleasantly surprised! If you have to have a 2nd revision...
One month today! Feeling pretty good and fairly active. Down to one PT appointment last week and one more 6/13 which will conclude my PT appointments at the hospital/clinic - of course I’ll still continue my own PT stretching/strengthening.
Have cut out the AM Tylenol and currently taking a...
Talk to the nurse or doctor about staying another night. Also, on my first TKR I started bawling on day 2 because I couldn’t walk up the stairs and had to master 2 to get into my house. I was so stressed and worried they arranged another day. On the 3rd day all of a sudden I could do the...
Great report! I know for me there was a world of difference between my original TKR and revisions which I attribute to the extensive prehab…mostly but also of significance for me is better OS.
Happy healing!
My doctor’s information is as follows:

(Please note there is another doctor with the same name - also ortho - he is with Prevea - that is NOT my doctor)
Day 24 - otherwise known as full revolution bike day! Today was the first day I made a full revolution - backwards. It was pretty easy - no forcing. I did a couple and thought let me try forward and that was good too - a little stiffer, but still not forcing. I ended up doing a total of 15...
I’m a day behind you and today I took a 2 hour nap. I love bed! I too have a dog - 4 1/2 year old black lab - and he’s great company. He wasn’t crazy about the walker, but quickly got used to it - luckily I didn’t need it that long.
I told my husband just today that I am still amazed at how...
@Ziggy100 it is SO hard not to compare…I get it! When I had my first TKR I was 53 and had a really, really hard recovery. I was very depressed when a family friend had a double TKR at 85 and was walking around pretty well within a week. I was quite depressed. So I’ll give you the same advice...
3 weeks + a day - I did my regular AM exercises and 15 min on the bike (still no full revolution); a little over a mile walk and pace was 22 min which is big improvement and it was nice to get my heart rate up a bit; did a little yard work; afternoon walk was .67 at 31 min mile because it was up...
And it should have been mine. I was wondering why she wasn’t suitably impressed with my awesome leg lifts and that’s what led to the discussion. I don’t think she’s used to having someone want to know the details. And my fault for not taking the time to understand the muscles…over confident for...
I haven’t met anyone in my area that hasn’t stayed 1 night. Maybe it’s a regional practice? Although I do think revisions must be done in a hospital setting and often require an overnight. Maybe TKR in my area do have as an outpatient now. Still mind blowing to me!
