Long time since I have posted on the forum (maybe 5 years). I have just celebrated my 10 year anniversary of my THR of my left hip. Titanium rod with a ceramic ball and socket. I had the hip replaced when I was 42.
I cannot believe the positive impact that my hip replacement has had on...
I went back to work after 4 weeks. Whilst I was ok I definitely recommend 6 weeks. But of course not everyone can afford or is able to take that long off work.

Four years ago i had my hip replaced and I haven't looked back. It has been an amazing journey and my hip is going strong. I have been playing soccer (albiet a non-physical guys and gals comp); doing plenty of weights (squats; deadlifts etc); cycling 40 to 50km trips a couple of times a month...

Congratulations. Believe me it only gets better and better. Being pain free is wonderful and being able to even the simplest of things that you couldn't do pre-op is amazing. Little pleasures such as shopping, gardening etc become wonderful experiences again. Enjoy the ride and hope you continue...

It is human nature for us to be scared. It is a big operation and of course one always feels apprehensive making such a big decision. For me it was an easy decision to make due to the me being relatively young with a lot of life to live. You also have many years left on this planet...
