    TKR Blondie 58's recovery thread

Hi guys, long time no see!! :) Well, I had my second RTKR a week ago Monday (15th Feb) & was in hospital for 4 days, having worked very hard myself (with the aid of a CPAP machine this time) to produce a flexion of 75 & a leg extension of approx 5-10 upon discharge. As with the first knee, am...

@Pookie2015 Hiya, Yes, pull your knee up towards your chest as if you were pulling on underwear or trousers on laying down, in one smooth motion, i.e. just bend it but upwards as well naturally against the resistance of the band? @Angel1978 @Legin You are both correct, swelling...

    TKR Blondie 58's recovery thread

Hi there, So sorry to read about your relatives' funeral Pookie, i'm very sorry for your loss, I hope it hasn't held back your recovery, I know only too well how stressful life events can? A good tip tho' for those of you having problems with the normal PT exercise for flexion/bending...

    TKR Need some post-op support

@kiki214 :hi: If you read my progress thread, you'll see I mentioned recently I was 'done' with worrying about these damned numbers, I think some of the OS' & PTs are obssessed with them, & that in turn burns into our brains too-forget them, please!! 90' at 3 weeks is amazing, I was only 65'...

    TKR Blondie 58's recovery thread

Hi @Kansas Teacher, Have just Googled 'Iliotibial band syndrome', you actually explained it extremely well, & it sounds very painful indeed, very common in runners, i'm assuming you were one in a former life Roxie? :running:. I'm glad it seems to be settling down, lets hope it stays that way...

    MUA Tigz's Lessons in Patience

Hi @tigz & @Kansas Teacher , Yes, Fragmin is a generic name for Heparin, injected daily into my stomach (which looked like i'd gone 9 rounds with Mike Tyson at the finish!!) :yikes: to prevent thrombotic clots, so it would follow logically that if the blood surrounding the bruised tissues...

    MUA Tigz's Lessons in Patience

@tigz So sorry to read you're going to have to suffer a Manual Manipulation, i've heard & read about this procedure & all I can say is i'm glad they do it under a general, but hopefully it will solve your flexion problem & you can then move forward pardon the pun!!). Interesting you should...

@Nana moon 27 Hi Ann, yes, I managed to find your thread about your 'Shiny New Knee', so if you have loads of 'alerts' it's me lol!! Wow, you certainly do have a really positive attittude towards this second TKR & that was how I went into this with the mindset of 'Well, it has to be done & I...

@Nana moon 27 Hi Ann!! Thanks for your lovely reply to my post!! However, i've just noticed that you had your 2nd TKR done only 2 wks ago, wow that was very brave so soon after the revision on your right one....how are you doing, are you in pain, was it worse than the first op...

Hi guys, Hope everyone's making good progress with their recovery, sorry i've not been online for a few weeks, have had problems with infection in my scar around 3 wks ago & it's taken 2 lots of antibiotics to clear it up, the last time I had an infection was after my hysterectomy 16 yrs ago, I...

TKR May the force be with me!

Hi @Bilbo Firstly, your OS isn't psychic, I know they can be very intimidating at times (although I have to say mine is very nice), but i've found in my experience that if you don't ask what you want to know they won't tell you!! Ok, as long as your wound/scar is clean & not weeping at all (&...

TKR May the force be with me!

Bilbo, i'm with Tim on this one. I've had pains at the front, back & sides of my knee, the only consistent pain i've had right from the start is a tight pulling/burning/tearing type sensation under where the scar is, & even my PT reassured me saying it was all the damaged tissue/internal layers...

TKR May the force be with me!

@Littlelady58 I have a nice walk in shower cubicle so getting out isn't a problem for me, it's the standing when I wash my hair too, kills my back for some reason? :gaah: Sue.

Hi @Nana moon 27 I know what you mean about trying to wean yourself of the narcs, i've tried a couple of times & just end up in pain, in tears, desperate, & my GP tells me the same as yours probably did-if you need them take them & why suffer etc etc; I've decided not to stress about my meds...
