Hello, it's been a while since I was last here and things have moved on quite a bit. Now 9 weeks post op; walking well, using a cane occasionally, sleeping well, still having two or three ice n elevation sessions each day, able to use static bike. Excellent range of movement, flexion etc...
Hey Mike, I took your advice about walking - have been going out for daily 30 minute walks for the past week and a half, progressing to two a day for the past few days. It's made a world of difference! I'm more tired but the improvement in my muscle strength and range of movement is brilliant...
I'm six weeks post op this week and feeling a bit more like myself at last! Sleeping pretty well, appetite normal, emotions less unpredictable. Getting about with one crutch, taking a 30 minute walk every day, able to get in and out of a car fairly easily although still unable to drive...
Little Red canoe that is brilliant and so true! I feel as if I am surfacing after being under water for a few weeks. I hope that I can help another as much as that has helped me. Love and respect to you.
Managed to get outside for a walk for the past couple of days and have also had visitors. Suddenly my knee is much less painful and giving more movement so the sense of progress has cheered me up a lot. I think it's being on my own that gets me down - I miss being at work with my colleagues and...
Thank you so much for your kind responses. It does seem very up and down, not a constant feeling so probably related to energy levels, meds etc. Today is a beautiful sunny day, I seem to have even more mobility and a friend is stopping by later so it's a good day! Great to know that you are here x
Hello lovely people, Happy New Year to you all. I'm here again today as I seem to have been hit with a big dose of the blues today. I'm aware that this is a normal part of recovery and I've been up and down a lot in the past five weeks since my operation. I've been outside for slow walks for the...
It sounds as if you have made incredible progress! I had my op two days after you and still have some pain and swelling. I can't walk without at least one crutch and then only for about 100 metres. I can't sit with my leg down for more than 10 minutes and still have that tight band feeling that...
Hello Penny Lane, you had your op two days before me. I'm in the UK in Bristol. How are you getting on? I feel as if I've got into a good routine now and am beginning to make progress. The Bonesmart way definitely works and I've found that the days that I try to do too much always result in...
Thanks Mike, you too! Hope you're recovery is going well. I wrapped myself up and ate my breakfast in the garden today to combat ever increasing cabin fever! Spending the day at a friend's tomorrow so should soon be feeling more human. We'll be out of the woods ready for spring.......
Hope everyone is having a very merry Christmas! I was definitely a member of ODIC by the end of yesterday but back on form this morning. Now that the pain is beginning to subside I'm noticing some nasty side effects from my medication. I'm currently taking 10mg slow release oxycodone every 12...
Hello lovely people, just thought I'd check in. Have calmed it all down over the past week, spending as much time as possible sat down with my leg propped up and iced. Pottering about the house when absolutely necessary, heel slides and gentle exercises once or twice a day. Sleep seems elusive...
Thank you zzevi and kneeper. It's clear that I'm doing way too much at the moment. I have to do most things myself as my daughter, who's 17, works long hours so I'm on my own most of the time. I don't know what other members have found but trying to get people to understand that I've been...
