Hi @Layla! Thanks for checking in -- thats very sweet.
In some ways Im doing very well -- in others not so much unfortunately. Both hip joints I think are healing well. I have pretty severe psoas issues on both sides that limit stair climbing, getting in the car, walking. My left knee (replaced...
@Eman85 so where is the pain you think is joint capsule? That's my question -- how do I know what is normal soft tissue stuff that just needs to be slowly stretched and reconditioned and what is a dislocation ready to pop?
Thanks @BeBe ! This multiple joint thing is for the birds! It's so hard to know what's what in terms of pain, and the disordered gait from each joint affects the entire system. I agree with the baby steps.
I know I probably wont really know how successful this whole venture is for another...
Hi All!
I have a question.
I am 7 weeks out from my LTHR and 16 months out from the RTHR. How do I know if I am getting close to dislocating? At my 4 week check up my surgeon told me that at 6 weeks I could slowly start easing up on the hip restrictions, including bending forward while sitting...
Thank you @BeBe . The fatigue is making me crazy. Im anxious to move on to the cane so I can get out a little more but I do get tired quickly. One day at a time.
Thanks @Layla! I have a little over and hour's drive to my first follow up appointment next week (then another hour home!) so we will see how that goes. I leaning against the baptism right now but it's still several weeks away. Glad to hear the chair sleeping thing is not unusual :)
Hi Everyone! I need some advice. My grandson is being baptized in another state the middle of June. I will be 10 weeks post op. It is an 8 hour drive and I will be alone. I would probably do it over 2 days. Im just not sure it's prudent. If Im not there, my daughter will face-time in and...
Hi @BeBe -- Thanks for checking in! I think Im doing fine. I think much of the knee issue is just due to the general edema from the THR. So Ive been icing both hip and knee and it seem to be helping some. I'm still sleeping in a chair -- I don't really like that but at least I get some sleep...
@BeBe, @Mojo333 Thanks for checking in! I wasnt really doing any PT so my activity hasnt changed much -- Im in a chair most of the day -- walking with the walker and 30 lbs of pressure just around the house a bit. The hip is not terribly uncomfortable -- icing a few times a day helps although...
@NanaMama Oh. My. I used Colace+MoM+prunes+pear juice. The pear juice should have a black box warning label! I had a horrible night where I had to use a bedside commode -- lots of accidents and embarrassments. Thank God for a very compassionate caregiver! Not quite back to normal yet but getting...
@Josephine -- Are we talking knee pain or hip pain? I believe the original post that prompted this exchange was the fact that Im having increased pain and stiffness and decreased mobility in the TKR knee on the same side as the current THR. I will answer for both.
1. Posterior approach for the...
@Jackie222 @BeBe @Lucky man
Thanks for checking in with me!
I had a rough night which in retrospect was probably a little humorous but was horrible at 3 AM. Long story short -- I WAY overshot on the constipation remedies -- Colace+prunes+MoM+pear juice. Pear juice really needs a black box...
@NanaMama -- You are hysterical and reading your post thread brightened my Post Op Day #4. So appreciate your keepin' it real. My particular focus today is pooping (well...NOT pooping) so I am going to try some of your suggestions and see what develops. Blessing to you on your ongoing recovery...
Hi All! Update -- post op day 4. Pain under good control with ice machine and 1000 mg Tylenol plus 0.25 mg Xanax three times daily. No narcotics in 48 hours. Just now was able to slide the operative leg onto and off of the bed! Yay!
The previous 2 surgeries I really wanted desperately to be up...
