    TKR 3 weeks into recovery

Good grief, forty minutes on a bike? I thought I was doing well but can't even get the pedal over the top yet! I am not worried, it will come- because it did last time, and I am resting with ice much of the time still. Over doing it leads to hurting, chill and rest more.

    Does diagnosis affect recovery

I had my left knee replaced over 3 years ago, I was very bow legged and the bone had rubbed a hole into the bone underneath. I have just had my right one done, 5th Nov., it was bone on bone but nowhere near as bad or as bowed. The pain, heat and fizzy knee sensations feel pretty much the same to...

    TKR Happy it's done

Thank you. I feel I am doing really well considering that it is only a week since surgery. I can shower and get to the loo quite well, husband is doing everything house and food wise, so I am lucky. The nights are quite tough, my knee seems to wake up and shout at about 3 am, lol, but I am icing...

Help me think through a revision

I have just had a second knee put in, and I wouldn't have done it if I had not been delighted with the first one, over three years ago. I expected my new leg to be straighter as I had become bowlegged, it is now totally straight. I could, until the second one gave out, go up and down stairs...

    TKR Happy it's done

Just got back from the hospital. I had a rough couple of days with sickness after the anaesthetic, which was a spinal. and the same thing happened last time. (It's just me, others weren't so sick.) Anyway, I now feel well although tired, and am managing to get round on crutches and do the first...

    Good Replacement Stories

I had my tkr last February and I am so happy with it. The recovery wasn't half as painful as I had anticipated, though I did get tired easily at first, and it does still feel hot at times. At first I kept trying to bend it, but in time I have lost the limp and gained the bend, just through doing...

TKR Whoopee! Fabby new knee fitted!

Twelve weeks out today! Knee is still prone to hotting up and needs rest and ice after I've had an active day, but generally is brilliant compared with before surgery. Still very stiff in the mornings and wakes me at times, but generally sleeping reasonably well. Rom has improved massively-the...

TKR Everything Comes to She Who Waits

Hi, I am 12 weeks post op today too. Every time I have visited the phisio she has massaged the joint around the scar. Last week my phisio suggested using a silicone dressing on my scar, which is rather lumpy and itchy at the top. I have been using it for the last 6 days, and it seems to have...

TKR Whoopee! Fabby new knee fitted!

Well, it's six weeks today for me! I am happy to report that I am back driving, short distances, and, even better, I got back on the pony yesterday and today! Six weeks ago I thought it might be months before I could ride again. I didn't do much, just went in the school and walked and trotted...

Anyone have bowed legs from their arthritis ?

My left leg was like a banana, completely bowed. I woke up in Recovery and looked down and there was my new straight leg! It's not the easiest recovery-sore and sleepless at times, but 5 weeks on my straight leg is certainly going to be worth the effort, and so far it's been nowhere near as bad...

TKR Sudden Knee Pain 8½ Weeks Out (Jan 21)

Hi, I haven't travelled with a new knee, so can't comment on the flight, but did go to London for a few days in a very hobbledy state before surgery. We had a great day going on the river down to Greenwhich for a wander and lunch, and also did a bus tour round the sites. We saw lots despite not...

Enjoy your homecoming! Get that ice on, it's the best thing by a mile-the feeling of "ahh bliss," so soothing on a hotty knee!
