Happy New Year! I had my THR on my right hip in May. Feel completely healed and back to normal now. Can even cross my legs. I have a few bursitis aches and pains or the IT band or pierformis but they are mild and don't last. Walk my dogs daily and am a daycare provider so lots of moving bending...
Almost 5 months post surgery now. I walk daily. Still days that it's hard to do some things. Muscle weakness. Mostly because I haven't kept up strengthening and stretching. Most days there's no pain and when there is it's my bursa or IT band. Those bothered me before hip surgery. One thing is...
I had surgery May 18th. I also struggle with restregthening the quads and IT band and keeping everything stretched. I'm to the point of fine tuning...seeing what works best to get those muscles stronger with as little pain as possible. I walk a lot and do daycare...which can be a physical job at...
@scottfamilyman i couldn't agree more. I'm only 10 weeks out but have already figured out if i push too much too soon i pay for it. I was active before too. So I'm finding the balance between too much and not enough. Lack of movement can hurt too. Sounds like there is a point...a ways...
I am a little over 10 weeks out. For some reason i thought it was 12 or more. I am back at work, have been for a bit. I've noticed less pain, still some swelling, but also a noticeable lack of strength. Carrying certain things...like a baby in a seat...is really hard these days. It wasn't...
A little over 8 weeks post surgery. Been back to work now 2 weeks. This week has been quite humid and my legs have ached in the front thigh area and the hips. I have not been able to do my exercises with work...not motivated or organized enough. I have walked every day however and kept active...
@donor i take pain pills occasionally. It hurts so much less than before surgery i think if there is pain i don't even know it! Good luck with therapy. I loved getting everything moving again.
6 week check-up today. I've been given the go ahead to do anything with only a couple of restrictions. Like running, jumping, or sitting or placing my leg indian style. I still don't have a perfect gait although I know it will come with time. This week I'll return to the gym and get on the bike...
4 weeks yesterday. Had first PT. Goal for the week, 3 PTs and to walk the dogs everyday. I am significantly stronger. @Sullivand didn't think anything of it lol. I don't have a lot of room for complaints. If I have a sudden reversal then I might have something to complain about. Best wishes to all.
@donor i am only taking Tylenol and occasionally ibuprofen. Like Sullivand I had a tougher time this week. Probably pushed too much last weeeknd so Tuesday while driving I had leg cramps. That was interesting. The rest of this week I've taken it easy. Kinda sore which I hadn't been before. 4...
3 weeks post op. Other than restrictions on the 90 degree rule, no others. I've walked my old woods path with the dogs, I can now shave my own legs, drive and clean my house with modified bending. The muscles hurt like they've had a good workout but next day are fine. Starting PT next Monday but...
I had bursitis for 2 years too until my hip decided to deteriorate rapidly. Glad to hear you're doing well. They never sent home those stockings with me so I'll assume i missed a real treat :)
