Well here we are 5years since I was last on this website after left hip replacement. And I’m 3 weeks post surgery for right hip replacement. I came back on to read my messages from 5 years ago and remind myself on the progress I made then and to compare that to now. I think I’m about the same...
Thanks for your replies and suggestions. I’m going to stop the exercises for now and suggest a deep massage to the PT. really hopeful that this pain gets better. I forgot to say that during full lockdown I gained 10 pounds. Maybe my new hip doesn’t like this . I’m trying my best to lose this...
Hi. It’s been over seven months and I’m still very glad to have had the op at the beginning of the year. I feel sad for folks who had their operations cancelled at the last minute.
All was going very very well for me until about 5 weeks ago. I had been walking up to 5 miles at a time, 3 times...
Stay strong! The day will arrive and you will feel fabulous again. and on that day the world will be fabulous too. Here are some words which I really like..

@Layla thank you for your kind post. Almost nine weeks since surgery.....can’t quite believe it! When people ask how I’m feeling my reply is. “ I feel normal”. That’s it.....normal. I am delighted to be able to feel this way and so glad that I had the operation which allowed me to get...
@Mollymax my brother has both knees replaced and both hips. His last knee surgery was performed at Victoria hospital Kirkcaldy 2018 and his last hip was done there also may 2019. I had hip replacement on 6th jan this year at the Vic. We had the same surgeon. Mr Edward Dunstan. 13 weeks from...
@longtimechemist . Great update. Good to hear about your return to swimming. I used to swim a lot until my hip got too sore but I plan to return soon. OS advised against breast stroke legs but I couldn’t do that before the op and had retrained my legs. BoneSmart has been full of great...
So, I had my six week check up yesterday and all is looking good. OS was very pleased with my progress but warned me that the risk of dislocation was still to be remembered for another six weeks. he said no to taking a bath during that time and to remember not to bend too far. I told him I...
Sending you best wishes for a successful surgery and a great recovery. the nIght before my operation I could barely sleep and I tried to convince myself that I didn’t need to have it done, that I could cope with the pain and I would be fine. I feared having general anaesthetic, and also the...
@Elf1 @VSlowLife @SurreyGirl @Lilli215
thank you so much for your advice on the bath. I have waited this long and can wait some more. I tried a dry run and could climb in and kneel down. Didn’t put my butt on my heels though as my knee felt a bit tight...and didn’t want to try to sit down...
